Hey all,

I have an 07 lbz duramax with an 8" CST lift, and am considering some hp upgrades. I think I have decided on my exhaust and air intake, but am kind of confused about the programers.

There seems to be alot of programmers on the market. My main concern is tearing up my allison tranny. I have read various posts that talk about how the programers are bad on a tranny. Do you guys have any advised or experience???

Thanks for the help!

The Allison is good for up to 500 hp at the flywheel. Your truck came rated at 360 hp, so do the math. Some of the higher hp tuners also de-fuel the engine during trans shifts, which takes some of the stress out while the trans does it thing.

Tuners run the gambit in price. The Predator by Diablo will add up to 120hp and runds around $300. The other end of the scale is the PPE Hot 2+ which can go as high as 350 hp.

As for the intake - forget it. Unless you are going with the PPE on it's highest setting - which will also require lift pumps and other mods, you do not need to change the intake. The factory set up filters better than the aftermarket filters, and lets in all the air the engine needs. I'm putting out around 340 hp at the rear wheels and use the stock intake. For the $300 bucks an intake would cost, I doubt it would add more than 2 or 3 hp. Just not worth it.
