First of all..I'm new here..and (*puts on flame suit*) I've been a "Mopar Guy" up until recently.
Anyways, I've come across a project I'm trying to decide if I should get. Here are the details:
IT ALREADY HAS; A NEW FIBERGLASS LIFT-OFF COWL INDUCTION HOOD, 3:73 RATIO 12 BOLT MINI SPOOL REAR AXLE, REAR ROLL PAN, TUBE STYLE FRONT GRILL, AMERICAN RACING TORQUE-THRUST 15" WHEELS, A NICE SET OF AFTER MARKET RACING SEATS, AND A "MONSTER" TACHOMETER with SHIFT LIGHT. ALL THE TRIM MOULDINGS AND DOOR HANDLES HAVE BEEN SHAVED.

I'd have to take out the mini spool for street use..this truck was setup for drag racing and had a 454 in it. Currently it doesn't have a engine or trans.
What it does need is more body work, interior work, gas tank, paint. Anyways, he is asking $1500.00 for it..do you think it's worth it?
The only rust it has is just a little in the floor boards and rocker panels.
Thanks,
Rick

Are you seriously considering buying it, or is this an interesting way of avoiding FSC's for sale section rules and posting an ad under false pretenses?

Ummm..I'm really thinking about buying it..I've never owned a GM truck before and need advise before I jump into something. I'm hoping someone will chime in and say that for the money it's a good deal (from what they can tell) or that it is a bad deal. So to answer your question..I'm not a troll. :cheer:

If the only rust is in the floorboards and rocker panels then it's in pretty good shape for that year model. I say sell the mopar, buy this one, and fix it up real nice with the cash.

I personally wouldn't buy a truck someone else has already hacked up. You never know what's under that bondo... But that's just me. I prefer to do my own body work

That's what I'm afraid of. They shaved everything: door handles, emblems, filled in the fuel door on the bed. But, they did spend some money on it like it's got a nice hood, gauges, wheels..:dunno:
As for the Mopars..I drive a Dodge SRT4 as my daily driver and it gets 30mpg and runs 13's at the track and the other mopar is also owned by my dad and it's a 71 Dodge Dart with a 440 that we just got done restoring..so I'll prolly end up keeping them for a while.

On craigslist.com, Ive seen some for around 1500-2500$, with motor and trany. Most were in good shape too. But thats in texas.

Yeah I went and looked at one on craigslist. The guy was selling it for 1500. It was an 86 silverado i think. But then I looked under the frame and saw someone had replaced the the left frame rail from about the trans crossmember forward. And they did a really half ass job... Plus the engine was tired so I passed and found my current truck. So just a word of advice, Check EVERYTHING!

If you like it get it, but try to go down in the price. Also check on how these seats are mounted, especially the rear of the sliders/rails under them. Other than that truck looks good, assuming you do all the work you can have a decent street runner for under 5k.

Personally, I think it's a tad high priced for what you're getting. If you can do the work yourself (or atleast most of it) it could be a nice street truck for relatively cheap. But if you're going to have to farm out most of the work, I'd pass on it a find something a little more complete.
And I can't knock a Dodge owner...

Haha, I know, we had two of these at work and me another guy were allowed to take them home every day for a week, Thursday and Friday and Saturday nights were real good - did you know that even gold-digger hottie chicks love fast trucks, even if you don't own 'em? lol :D
