K so i have searched and found nothing. i have both hubs off, the seals removed, and berings, hub, and spindle all cleaned up, when i took it appart it appiered to only have grease on the berings. sould there be more in there? this is a full time axel and there was no grease on the part that conects the shaft to the hub (not sure what it is called, ybut had splines on out side and insidfe that mached the hub and shaft)I recal when we repacked the berings on my dads 79 ford f-150 w/manuel hubs (also a dana 44) we packe grease into the berings and also the locking part. i actuallrecall after puting on the hub, berrings and locking nuts we packed in a bunch more grease. should i do this with my truck, or should i just pack the berrings and leave it at that?

Sorry for the long rambling post

I will let someone else advise you on the hubs but on the brngs a big tablespoon full of grease is enough for a brng. Just get it worked thru the brng good. You say you have everything cleaned up,,make sure the brngs dont have a oily film on them so the grease wont stick.Drag the brng thru the bearing grease,if the grease don't stick to the brng, clean and dry it again. Good luck RW

i use a bearing packer.

as for the drive slug, a light coat of grease should be fine. just enough to keep it from seizing in there. its not a moving part, so no grease is necesary there.

i used brake cleaner on them then used compressed air to dry them (i wanted them clean to inspect for pits/wear. i also got a wheel berring greasing tool from Sears today, ist totaly contained, unlike the pos i got from the part store that looks like 2 funnels. i have not used the new one, but it looks like it will work good.
thanks for the reply.

here is pict of packer:

The new one you got will work nice, I have one. The other two funnel design works fine, it's just a mess to use.
