View Full Version : holley throttle body question help!!! gostranger 01-02-2008, 07:46 PM i have a 95 tahoe i got the throttle body for the earlier model the 06 not the 09 can i just wire in the 06 version plug to work for the throttle position?? any help would be great!!! bigred2004 01-04-2008, 03:21 PM so your throttle body has the older style TPS? If so, yes you can just splice into your TPS harness and add the old style connector. I did the same thing with no problems. But do understand that if you install the throttle body, alot of tuning will need to be done. gostranger 01-04-2008, 07:32 PM what kind of tuning would be involved i am only going to be running the throttle body and headers, dual flowmaster exhaust msd coil and a transgo shift kit. i was under the impression the tuning comes into play once you put a cam and vortec heads ect i know the tune will optimise the ad ons but i want to do the mechanical stuff and do the tune last any suggestions on who i should have my chip tuned by i have read alot but there isnt one person or place that is always refered to as the best there is always positive and negitive feedback also bigred2004 thanks for the reply do you know by chance if the wires are the same colors or do they not match up thanks for the help i thought they were the same except for the sensor Sparkee 01-05-2008, 11:58 AM The Holley TB has larger injectors, so with a stock tune it will be dumping alot more gas into the engine. It will run overly rich and expect your gas mileage to go down. Unless you already have better heads and cam the TB isn't worth it. I do have the Holley TB, but I have ported heads, bigger cam and exhaust. You might be able to help it some by lowering fuel pressure some. Have a good one! canadianstroker 01-05-2008, 12:20 PM what kind of tuning would be involved i am only going to be running the throttle body and headers, dual flowmaster exhaust msd coil and a transgo shift kit. i was under the impression the tuning comes into play once you put a cam and vortec heads ect i know the tune will optimise the ad ons but i want to do the mechanical stuff and do the tune last any suggestions on who i should have my chip tuned by i have read alot but there isnt one person or place that is always refered to as the best there is always positive and negitive feedback also bigred2004 thanks for the reply do you know by chance if the wires are the same colors or do they not match up thanks for the help i thought they were the same except for the sensor Try Westers I`ve had great service and a great chip. gostranger 01-05-2008, 07:21 PM thanks for the replies i thought the holley throttle body was a direct bolt on for more power the the throttle body has larger openings for more air and more fuel the intake i was going to bore to match the larger bore on the throttle body even though the heads are restrictive i have headers and a free flowing dual exhaust so my thinking i would be good untill the chip reflash then i would be smokin big cigars!! as far as my performance plans. any more help or suggestions would be great thanks vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
