can't datalog

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong? I downloaded WinALDL, and got the cables from moates but I can't get it to do anything. I have the right com port, set it to 2400, have it on the right ecm, and have the truck running. Any ideas about what I could be doing wrong?

are you using the 7747 I sent you? probably.
I've seen this kind of thing before, and it was the ALDL port on the truck that was the problem. the wires were cut coming from the harness under the dash, so no datalog! could be it, who knows. and who knows why they would be cut!

Hi tabasco, 91 could well be correct. I stuck an oscilliscope on my output to double check, Since you bought a cable, i would really suspect that 91 has it pegged. At 160 baud, a flashlight bulb style testor might work to see if data is appearing on the wire, but first i would just take a peek under the dash to see if all the wires are connected. When I got my truck, we must have fulled 100 ft of extra wires out of the truck. I still have some no stock wires, but they are actually connected to something. Hope you find it, keep us posted
