I have been thinking about building a custom console for my truck I got like a blueprint on it. It will hold a 10" screen, cup holders, Kicker L7 12" and a Xbox 360, Do yall think this is buildable?<IMG SRC="http://pic60.picturetrail.com/VOL1775/10446463/18697217/296469532.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com">

In theory, its a good idea, you won't know if it will actually work out until you start building.

That looks alot like my old console. The plans were for a 7.2" screen and the original xbox and an RE SX 12. I ended up scratchin the xbox idea just because of its sheer size but this was all before the 360 came out. Are you getting someone else to build it or are u doing it urself because if you are, the only advice I can give you is test fit many times and do it before sub or any other accessories are installed in it. It will make your life so much easier.

I was plaining on someone else build it, My dad has some software on his laptop, he could get a blue print of it, and ill just take it to places that would build it for me because i never did a fiberglass box before

IMO, build it yourself unless you absolutely want it glassed. I'll be building one this week after I intall my buckets but will be using MDF board as a base and covering it with diamond plate and something else, haven't decided yet. It'll be a learning experience and far cheaper than 600+ dollars.

I would be weary of mounting th e xbox in the same structure as the subwoofer as you may end up with serious skipping issues from the vibration the sub will create. Also, you would probably be better off letting the shop that is goin to build it design it with input from you for the style and placement of accessories. Alot of times the installers will have a pretty good idea what will work and wont work ahead of time.

Just try it, no one ever learned anything by not trying...
you gotta fugg it up before you get it hooked up :)

by OLCD did you mean OLED? Cause a 12" OLED would be over $1000 right now by itself (in fact, I wouldn't be surprised it it was over $2k). If you meant LCD, then yeah, no problem. But there is no OLCD.

With the older interior, it's easier to make it look OEM. I'm anxious to see how it turns out!

The only thing i would change is recess the sub from the back wall about 3" to give your sub room to pound.

Do it yourself. You could make 4 of them for the cost of labor. So unless you have a deadline you just have to have it done for, take your time, measure a lot and do it. Don't let it overwhelm you, it's just wood, screws, and perhaps a little filler. All of which is extremely to do.

in the end youd feel better if you make it yourself.

Try to do it yourself. As for body filler, use Rage. It sands really easy.

Im fixing to finish up my console tonight/tomorrow. We've used 1/2 MDF (the good stuff, not the particle) with a flex sealer, forget the name of it but its awesome stuff. Have a 12" Alpine E rear facing and the console will have a switch panel and cup holders which are tonights project. The rest of the box has already been carpeted and awaits alum-angle trim.

Its cake to do, easier when you have two people and a multitude of tools at hand too. I think all the materials may have run me $100.

Trying to find a screen, I called one place and they said a 10" screen only comes in flip downs? Does anyone know a good brand 10" screen that would work for my console?
