Well after seeing 91blkstpsd Build thread and seeing how he changed the color of the leather I decided to do mine since they have been in the truck for a year now. I think the color came out pretty good and it will look better since I won't have the tan interior clashing with the rest of the interior being blue. I was able to find the SEM classic coat and the prep locally at Carquest but they didn't have the soap so I made due with the 3m scuff it.

Started with just the head rest until I can pull the seats out just to get an idea.

Looks really good man. Sorry for the thread jack but I gotta ask...

Is there something like this that could be used to change some of the Burgundy colored dash and door pieces to black in my 92? I hate my all burgundy interior and think that some black accents might help tone it down some.

Pretty sure you can use their color coat.

Awesome thats exactly what I need for the vinyl and plastic stuff I wanna color. I don't ming my burgundy seats but with the whole interior one color it drives me nuts so hopefully by changing a few things to black it'll tone down the burgundy and help tie the interior in with the black exterior.

Thanks for your help Colin

redneck_rebel01-You can change your factory color to black or whatever you want. Check out my build cause I changed mine from the nasty burgundy to all black! Good luck with it and post up your progress!

Thanks dude, I just dont mind being a test pig for stuff like this. Youw never know what you can do til you try it and thats how I learn is by making mistakes and trying new things. When I get some time Ill try to do a write up on the whole dying process so anyone who wants can try it out.

Dye them or the rest of the interior to match. Its not hard nor really expensive.

I don't have any pictures with them in, but they do match pretty good next to my 18 year old interior.

How well does the color hold in there? does it fade or rub off at all?

Just like the factory if you follow the directions on it. Its not like a paint that lays on top of the surface. When used with the Sand Free adhesion promoter, it bonds and absorbs into the surface.
