well i have a 1990 chevy c1500 reg cab long box and i want to do a 6 inch lift kit on it. i was going to get 2 inch coil spacers up front than a rough country 4 inch spindle, than for the back a add a leaf and a 2 inch lift block. my question is the rc spindle says it only fits 92-95 reg cab trucks. is that a typo or will it not fit my truck? and will i clear 33s with a six inch lift? brake line extensions?
another possible route is 2 inch coil spacers and a 3 inch body lift.
any help would be great!!

they will fit...BUT you will need to get rotors calipers and bearings for the extended cab model.. sucks. I just replaced everything with good parts. I found some calipers and powerslot rotors with tikman bearings when i was getting the lift for cheap on ebay (90 bucks) so i really lucked out.
Other than that your plan will work fine. Just know that when you use a coil or coil spacer your camber will always be off slightly in most cases.

so what your sayin is the lift spindles will fit, but i will have to buy new rotors, calipers, and bearings for an ext cab in order for them to work properly? well thats not too bad i guess.
how do u like ur bfg mt tires?

Yup. I like my tires great, the have a nice hum and are wearing nicely aside from the outside edge ( just a bit more wear) but thats because of the lift not the tires. i wish i could drive it more but i have an electricle problem that i just cant put my finger on..
Oh and fabtech makes a spindle for our model and it would cost about the same as replacing all those parts if you use rough country. I think they are like 540 or so..
Either way you wont get out cheaper using rough country i think but the choice is yours.

k thanks for your help.
im suprised you can only fit 33s with a 7 inch lift. my summer tires right now (275/60r17=30 inches) fit with stock height. so i was thinkin with a 4 inch lift i could fit 33s, than with a 6 inch i could fit 35s?

I just used a rough country spindle kit on my boys 89' Chevy 2wd. I put 31/12.5/15 on it and it looks great. I lightly trimmed the fenders and bumper because the tires rubbed when he turned to full lock. When I ordered the lift straight from rough country, they never said anything about fitment issues. After getting halfway through, then I found out that 92 and later front brake rotors/ bearings need to be used. I had a wrecked 94' out back, so parts were free, but this is something I should have known about ahead of time. The man I spoke with at RC was very appolagetic and said he would make changes in the instruction packet, maybe that is why they are now telling people... I will get a picture of the truck tomorrow when it is light out.

k pics would be great. so it was the 4 inch kit and u were only able to fit 31s?
fabtech has a spindle for the reg cab but it costs more, but by the time i purchase 92 ext cab parts it should be about the same

i use wide rims so 35's rubbed pretty damn bad. if you use a 8 inch wide rim with 3 3/4 backspacing you can run a 33 but you will rub sometimes. Honestly it takes about 9-10 inches to fit a 35 comfortably on our model truck. Some do it with less but it rubs way to much for my liking.
And there are some pics in my gallery that show my suspension and some far shots of my truck so you can get an idea of size.

I can't post pictures for some reason.... Anyways, I used 15/10 rims, so that is another reason it rubbed when turned. The 31" tire looks very good on the truck!

well i have 17x8 rims with roughly 4 3/4 backspcing so with a 4 inch lift i could fit 31s comfortably?

i was dueing some researching and i think i might need new rims with less backspacing?? i am looking at some toyo open cpuntry 265/70/17 tires (32.6 inches tall) will these tires fit with a 4 inch lift and my existing rim backspacing(4 3/4)? or do i need to do a 6 inch lift to clear these tires?
thanks for your help!!

as i said earlier 3 and 3/4 is the recommended back spacing. Also imo 31's look way to tiny for 4 inches. 32 is recommended
