View Full Version : Why dual out instead of 1 and what size?
99 Silverado NBS 4.3 V6.
I had a magnaflow system on my last truck, will be doin the same on this one.
I will simply be dumping the exhaust before the axle, so no visible tail pipes.
Will there be a difference in sound? Performance? Mileage? if i have the 2 outs instead of just one?
Also, which size inlet/outlets are needed for a 4.3" V6. I am just going to buy the muffler, and skip the tailpipes alltogether.

I myself am also on the debate. I have about the same motor as you. I never thought about just no tips. My spare tire makes it hard for a dual system. And i just don't like single. So No tips would be awesome. Any risks?

none to my knowledge. Nearly everyone i know who is bagged just runs two little dumps/turn downs under the bed of the truck before the axle, as there is normally no room over the axle for the bagged guys.

Sweet. Thanks! Saves money on tips, too. Now if i could only find a heart or star shaped tip for my girl's truck I'd be doing great!

I am not 100% sure about your state laws. but i was told in Pennsylvania the exhaust must be piped away from the vehicle. It can exit right after the passenger compartment but must exit either the side or the rear of the vehicle. Only reason I know is because I wanted to just dump also but was told by friend/exhaust shop owner that it had to exit from the underside of the vehicle.
Show basically check your local inspection laws before making your decisions.

Heh. I live in Kentucky. No emissions inspections, and the local exhaust shops will cut off Cats for 30 bucks cash. No worries for me! Excellent point for those who aren't so fortunate, however.

we DO have emissions, only issue i know is exhaust must exit behind the cab *under is fine*.
So as long as the muffler is under the bed, and not the cab its fine.
Sucks for the emission dude who has to get under a slammed truck and hook up the sniffer to the muffler under the truck
back to origional question. Why Dual out instead of single out??

Purely a matter of looks. I couldn't deal with a single exhaust on a truck. No tips is clean...two tips is badass....one tip is like a damned sedan.
