computer cable for datalog on OBDI ? new computer

Guys I'm not the the smartest when it comes to computers, but not the dumbest either. I have a new Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop computer. Im wanting to do the datalogging thing and send it TBI chips and get one burned and do all that good stuff. Can someone point me in the right direction with what I need to do. I have read just about all of the datalogging posts on here and understand the basics somewhat. It is a little clearer than mud. With a new computer I don't know if its any diffrent. I have Windows Vista ? Thanks Guys.

This is what Brian recommends (and is preferred by him on the 93-95 trucks). Why not use them?
