I have a 93 suburban 2wd with the 454, I love the bottom end grunt it has, but it just seems to run out of power after 2500 RPM, I know they had a horrible 7.5:1 CR can I put a short block into it while I have the motor out and still use most of the stock parts top end wise?

The factory designed this big block to run out of torgue at 2K rpm. This is the reason I put a Banks Power Pack System on mine. Just remove the very restrictive intake air snorkel and silencer cone from the intake side. Then open up the exhaust side with a good flow thru muffler. Headers will also help. Your torgue will remain strong up to 4K rpm.
