Alright we are talking about an 2004 Silverado 2wd. After doin alittle playing in some sand and mud. My wheels are make a sreek noise. I thought maybe it was some sand or mud caught in the brakes so I took a pressure washer to them but I still have the noise. So then I thought wheel bearing.... but the part store are telling me that I have to buy the whole wheel hub assembly. And that I cant just get the wheel bearing. Am I going to have to buy the whole assembly or what.
Or does anyone have any info as of how to solve this problem with the noise.

Yes The Bearings Are Inside The Hub Assembly And Is Only Serviced As The Whole Hub For That Wheel, But Make Sure That Is Definately Your Noise Before You Hand Over The $$$$

yeah the hub and wheel bearing is a unitized assembly with these NBS trucks...trust me i feel your pain, i had to replace one of mine about a year after i got my truck
did you jack your truck in the air to check whether or not your wheel bearings took a dump?
its an awful lot of money to invest without making sure its gonna fix your issue

Thanks guys for the advise. No I have not even took the wheel off. I'm to scared of what i'll see. Is there anyway to just repack the bear with gease on these models or is it just better to replace the whole thing. Cause I ready dont have the money to replace the 2 on the back. Which is where the noise is coming from.

Id start with taking the wheel off to get a better look. Does this noise happen at all times or any speed? is it more present when you hit the brakes or make a turn? how does the rotor look, any grooves from a rock or something stuck in the caliper? Which wheel is the noise coming from?

go ahead and wait...... nothing like having your wheel fall off while your driving down the road....

yea the noise sounds like it is coming from the rear but i'm not really sure. You can hear the noise at all speeds from 0 to however fast i feel like going. And it gets really bad when the brake are applyed and sounds like its going to fall apart.

I would jack it up and pull the wheel off and see if there isnt something in there anywhere. You have the rear discs right? I would even go as far as to slide the caliper off and make sure theres nothing between the pad and the rotor before I go buying anything.

yea check your wheels/rotors/calipers first and then check back with us and tell us what you found if anything, hopefully you dont have any axle/rearend problems.

Hey guy just an up date. I took the truck over to my college automobile shop to get the guys over there to like at it. (They was studying the brake and bearing. So I got some free labor.) But they found that the inside of my rear passager rotor was competely shot well past metal to metal. So lucky it was just $100 compared to close to $400. I'll post pics maybe tomarrow. To show how bad it really was.

your rear rotor and pads were shot?? or was it the park brake shoes?? seems kinda early for the rear pads to be worn that much..... well atleast its nothing major. yea lets see pictures.

The first three pictures I was trying to get the markes felt behind by the brake pad. And the forth pictures is the brake pad.
And do remember that it was only the inside pad on the back pass. tire. But all the other were gettin close to time for replacing.

yeah, that would be a cause of a screeching noise, there is no way to re pack the bearings, you have to buy the whole hub assy and it cost about 150-250 depending on where you go. and those are supposed to be good 100K+ miles, but some of them are flukes from the factory.
