has anyone ever used one of those doodads that fools the truck into constantly thinking the A/F ratio is 14.6 all the time? if so how does it make the truck run?

I used them on my 99 Z28 for years with no problems at all, it ran the same as when I had real O2's in there

Probably, it's just a dumb idea to trick the computer. Learn to burn your own chips with properly calibrated air/fuel/spark tables.

I agree. Why "fool" the computer into doing something?
Why not just do it the right way in the first place? You'll see much better results in every aspect: power, economy, driveability, etc.

The sole purpose of the upstream/precat 02 sensor is for feedback to the ecm/pcm to gage if what it's trying to accomplish is happening.It's the one that controls fuel and AFR.

If not mistaken the primary purpose of the 02 simulator is to take the place of the downstream/postcat sensor,and keeping the CEL off when running gutted cat converters.
