1998 OEM cd player help

if u put a cd in it says "err" and spits it back out, what would cause this?
also the buttons on the radio dont light up anymore, causes? fixes?

Hey I'm Kevin from Alabama also! The bulb are bad and the reader has taken a crap in the cd section. I would buy a new player either factory from Ebay or a nice aftermarket!

Get a nice new head unit that's ipod ready and satelite ready, best move i made.

Any decent aftermarket head unit is a huge improvement over stock, you won't be sorry.

may have to see about another stocker, truck is my parents and they in there early 60's, so the little buttons on the aftermarkets are hard to see
