I have a 99 chevy 1 ton 6.5 turbo diesel i am having a problem with the rpm jump from nothing to full when it is in park or nuetral it seem like when i start to give it gas it jumps and starts to rev out of control just wondering what it could be

Check the wire loom behind the alternator for arching. I will look at some info tommorow on this. It seems to me i remember seeing this before

i have and there is no arching going on i just wondering if maybe it has soem thing to do with the throttle body sensor or somehtign in that lines

diesels don't have throttle bodys or blades that close in the intake.
They run off the amount of fuel that is injected and the 94-up 6.5 diesel are drive by wire so the throttle pedal is where your problem is because it sends the signal by wire to the injection pump.

Bad sign - points to IP failure.

How many miles on the truck - IP may still be under warranty.

Do a search on fuel solenoid armature screw. Or armature shaft . It sounds like either the screw is loose or broken. There is a possibility of fixing if it is just loose, if it is broken, the only fix is a new IP.
The solenoid itself is not serviceable.

Do the search, you'll find a couple of threads on this.
