Alright I know this is not GM sorry, but desperate 99 super duty 3/4 ton 7.3 power stroke, kept blowing the 30 amp fuse for the PCM relay coil, Fuel Heater, Waste Gate Solenoid and the Injector driver module relay coil. Guy driving it robbed other fuses to get it to run but it always fired back up and run great. Now the second you touch the key it pops the fuse, glow plugs wont run at all. any clues. i already got all the fuses back in order but still nothing.

I would check you fuel bowl heater first, those are known to go out, you can just unhook it too, There should be somewhere on the fuel bowl, i think the back of it, there is a single wire that is attached to it, just unhook it, wrap it up with some electrical tape and you should be good to go

well now heres something odd. i had pulled out the fuel filter and then starting to check what i could find and the little bracket where the vacuum line and the harness for the wastegate was loose where it bolts to the turbo housing so i tightened that back up hopped in turned the key, glow plugs ran truck fired up. then i remembered the fuel filter was out of it so i put it back in. i had left the key on when i did so and i noticed some white almost looked like smoke coming in where the fuel enters the bottom of the filter housing. so i stuck the filter in hopped in and turned the key to run, glow plugs ran, the wait to start light turned off then pop. this was odd because usually it would pop the fuse right when you turned the key and not after the plugs ran. ill check the fuel heater next and see what i find

Yup the Fuel Heater Element is directly under the fuel filter and its not insulated, there are supposed to be little plastic grommets that keep the element from hitting the metal braket but they dissintegrate after a while, and pop.
I really dont see a need for the heater and would just disconnect it.
