Well after 4 months I finally got my computer at home back with most of the pictures from the build. What the pics consist of is my 1992 GMC Yukon. I started this back in june of 06, frame swap, new panels, new paint, new air bag setup, new wheels, new interior, new motor, new fuel system, and a procharger.

The shell....

Then I brought it back to the shop after I got it running, and painted the shell. Then brought it back to the house, for the last time.

That is all Ive got for now. I have got to find the disc with the rest of my build on it. I will post those later.

But here is how the truck sits now. Pretty much finished, But I will be getting rid of the procharger very soon, and be trying something a little quieter.

Taken the procharger off and going with something else, something quieter. Then redoing the exhaust to come out the back versus dumping at the rear axle. Tennessee will not even test for emissions if the exhaust doesnt go past the rear axle, at least thats what they said when I went. Hopefully I will be out the first of may.(tagged and ready)

:10: Man.... you did one hell of a nice job on your yukon. It is sweeeet:10: I'm in the middle of converting a 1998 TAHOE 4x4, 2dr. I took a little different direction for the frame. I took a 2wd suburban frame and cut it down just in front of the rear wheels. Then made up a rear frame section with stepnotch out of 2x4 steel tubing. It is comming along but a project this size does take a lot of time and money. Keep the pictures comming it fuell's me to continue working on mine. Again awesome YUKON!!!!

Sorry man, I will take pics tonight. The seats are 2005 tahoe seats heated 6 way power seats. The dash and the door panels are out of a 99 tahoe, the back seat is from a 98 2 door tahoe. The back is torn down right now so Im not sure what thats going to consist of yet. I am also in the works of a center console. More to come, hopefully before winter comes back.

Looks good that the same color i did on my last build.. arrival blue on top/HOK Cinnamon/Hok Silver here's a pic of it..

Did you do the wiring for your new cluster and headlight switch ??? i wanted to know if you did it the same way it was on the forums on the interior tech thread??

YUKNTUKN22S
03-24-2008, 08:07 AM
The used dash had the wiring for the headlight already and it wired up directly by color code. The window switches were the same way on the door panels. Lovin that paint job on your truck, why did you get rid of it?

LayDBurban
03-24-2008, 05:29 PM
i got rid of it so i can get the suburban, i need to have the rear seats for my son, i was tired of having him sit in the xtracab part without a seat it was dangerous at times when we cruised, so i got the burban for my son safety and either ways it's was basically the same truck but bigger ... i loved that paint job man.. the truck ended up in Alabama last i heard..

you got more pics of your interior? i'd like to see them.. check out my thread bro i started one on here also.

The guages were pretty simple to wire up, The only thing was finding an a.c.c. source for the alternator which I ran mine off of the old abs power source. The main power for them is run off a switch on my switch panel, and the lights are run off of the main headlight switch. The speedo has to wire into the vehicle speed sensor, which is best explained on the autometer instructions. Everything else is simple, the oil pressure is mechanical, water temp is electronic, the tach is wired into the distributor, and the fuel is wired into the sending unit on the cell which is 0-90 ohm, 0 being empty 90 being full. I love having it compared to what I had before, also it is very accurate. Hope that helps.

I was a parts manager at a local body shop, here in nashville, and that is where the frame work and the body was done afterhours. Me and a friend built the frame using a shark measuring system just to make sure it true. Other than the frame and the paint every thing else was built in my garage. Plus I dont work for that shop anymore.

The used 2wd tahoe frame was 500.00. I got mine out of Florida LKQ which is a nationwide company. You can search for one on car-part.com and maybe find one local to you.

08-04-2008, 07:55 PM
damn, well thats not too bad. but didnt you have to buy the 2wd front suspension? im not sure how i would switch mine to a 2wd, even if i do keep the frame i still might wanna just switch to 2wd suspension.

YUKNTUKN22S
08-05-2008, 06:16 AM
I think the right front knuckle was intact on there, which I used the upper control arm from. But everything will have to be new on the front, control arms, all of the steering, and then I used belltech spindles on mine. But you will for sure have to change out the frame on the front. I will try to find some pictures of where I cut the frame.

kev2809
08-05-2008, 08:37 AM
damn..so i would need everything in the front and i would still have to cut and weld the front of a 2wd frame on my existing frame? is it shapped differently or something, or the 2wd stuff doesnt bolt on the 4wd frame?

YUKNTUKN22S
08-05-2008, 09:00 AM
No its different, there is nothing you can reuse from your 4wd frame other than the steering gear and some of the linkage. So now would be the best time for tubular arms and spindles and frame notches and so and so forth. Just DO IT!!!

kev2809
08-05-2008, 10:15 AM
lol, seems like a lot of damn work though. if i could find some 22's that would tuck right like a 2wd then i would probable just leave it, but i know if i keep this burban long enough im gonna wanna bag it. so i would eventually need a 2wd frame anyways...hmm, maybe a future project down the road

bftiedt
08-05-2008, 10:21 PM

YUKNTUKN22S

i would only wanna switch to 2wd frame so i can lay it out harder. your truck looks good bftiedt, but i like the 2wd frame slammed look. but if im not gonna bag it, the only reason for the 2wd front suspension is to have the rims tuck under a regular drop.

you can get a 4x4 to lay out hard. you could get it to lay frame no problem. check out this link http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/general-discussion/street/4x4-street/179591-4x4-lowered-bagged-owners-check-12.html#post3344671 its slaminfx tahoe... he is layin frame on 20s with a 265/35 tire. if you are gonna switch the frame and all of that you might as well just sell your 4x4 and buy a 2wd and go from there.

I agree, when I park it I will be spending my time putting goodies under the hood. Some powdercating would be real nice! What do you think on the front half of the procharger? Ive got the back side polished but the front half is almost impossible to get perfect. I will have to get some pictures of it( I think there are some towards the begining of the thread)

Ive got some sheetmetal valve covers but with tuning the fuel and changing out everything 500 times to get it tuned I havent put them on yet. I have heard about some centerbolts coming out this fall that are suppose to be the sh*t. I believe that one of the guys that run around with some of the hot rodders in Knoxville has come out with them, I will try to get you a picture but they're bada**.

Sweet! The other side of the charger can be done pretty easily too. But how hard is it to disassemble? And are those valve covers similar to the fabbed ones Im using? I had to modify mine some to work but think they turned out good. If you find the other let me know, ill be interested in them.
