View Full Version : How will a tune affect longevity of my transmission 4L80E? hotbread597 06-02-2008, 11:17 PM Just wondering if i get a tuned pcm from blackbearperformance or gowheatly, if it will decrease the longevity of my transmission and all the parts in my truck? Atomic 06-02-2008, 11:20 PM I am assuming you have the 6.0 right? That means you have the 4l80e like you said, as well as the 14bolt full floater 10.5" rear axle. Both of these things are pure beef. Will the tune decrease longevity? I doubt it will make much of a difference. Definately dont let the fear of it breaking in 20 years keep you from a tune; they really wake the 6.0 up  hotbread597 06-02-2008, 11:46 PM what company makes the best tune? I have dual exhaust magnaflow dual 3 inch in and dual 2.5 inch out, good idea to get a CAI? Also would a tune help the bottom end on the truck? hotbread597 06-02-2008, 11:52 PM yeah I have a 2006 2500HD SLT ECLB, GMC that is, I really love the truck, I haul quite a bit with it horses and cars and such so I just don't want it breaking down on me is all but if you think a tune won't hurt nothing but make it perform better, sounds good to me, plus any savings in MPG with a tune or similar to stock? Atomic 06-02-2008, 11:52 PM What year is your truck? The stock airbox is actually pretty good, but people like to get a CAI to make them feel faster. A tune would greatly help the bottom end by removing most (or all) of torque management (TM). Theres a big thread about it in the performance section. As far as who makes the best tune...its debatable. But some common ones are Blackbear, wheatley, nelson, and westers. hotbread597 06-03-2008, 12:00 AM my truck is a 2006, i have a AFE High performacne filter in it right now, oil based one, hopefully I don't have any trouble with the MAF sensor. do you have a tune in your truck and what do you run? vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
