Higher Level Auto is offering $10 off any kit purchased during the month of July. The sale price is $139.99. If we have the kit in stock (Which we probably do) it gets shipped same day and you receive it within 2-3 days. I would highly encourage you to spend the extra $ on the slim ballast. This is a slick product. The ballast is super small and will take up minimal space. www.higherlevelauto.com.

Do you have any pictures of the regular size ballast next to the slim ballast? I would just like to see how much space is saved...

I'm wanting to do a high beam and low beam kit at the same time, just wondering what kind of space issues I'm going to have with FOUR ballasts stuffed under the hood...

Also, can you ONLY take PayPal?

Because after getting burned multiple times by them, I refuse to use it anymore...

I have one credit card I do all my online buying with, is there any way you can accommodate that?

Thanks in advance, Brian

I've read that simply putting HID bulbs into housings not designed for HID is 1) inefficient, and 2) potentially blinding for oncoming cars. Reason for both is that the reflectors are not designed for HID.

Any truth to this? I've been waiting for someone to come out with a complete light conversion, housing and all, but seems nearly all the R&D nowadays has long since passed my hoe's generation (class of '97).

Looks like I have the same halo housings that you have, only mine are chrome, I had asked this question in the other thread the day Mike announced he has sold the business, so I never got a reply...

Here is mine, they throw a good light pattern on the road now...

You will need to re-aim them down a little bit but there not going to have the nice sharp cut off like true hids do. A lot of guys run them with very, very little issues.

What do you think of them? I have a mixed opinion about mine. The horizontal adjusters worked, but the vertical ones just spin and spin and don't adjust. I had to put some thick washers in behind the top bolts to shim it down. (This also caused the rear plate to flex a bit but it's the only thing I could do).

One half of one of the angel eye halos doesn't work either. I don't know if one or two LEDs quit working, but only half of it lights up. It's not super noticeable, as the other side's LED(s) diffuse a bit to the other side.

All in all, I dig the look of the lights, but quality left something to be desired. And if those little mood light bulbs deep inside there ever go, I couldn't see any way to replace them short of cutting stuff.

BTW, I'm running standard Sylvania Silverstars (not the newer brighter ones) in my low beams. They're definitely a step up from the stock bulbs. The pattern the housings throw has some shadows in it, but it's liveable.

That pic was pre-aiming just after I put the grill back on after installing the lights, I have since aimed them correctly so that the top of the beam doesn't go above most passenger vehicle trunk lids...

They may still need some minor tweaking after the HID kit's are installed, but I'll just have to wait and see...

After much research and reading, I have decided I'm going with the 8000k's...

Now I just have to figure out how to buy them without PayPal and convince myself to spend the $370 plus shipping...

Is that toward the white end or blue end? Personally I'd go more white.

HLA's are would only be $280. You looking at a different vendor?

The halo's only have 2 LED's in them, one on each end, so you have one gone bad or one of the tiny wires broken...

Mine came with one adjuster that did nothing but spin, so I robbed an adjuster out of the previous set of aftermarket lights I replaced with these...

The mood lights "city lights" are a pain to get too, you have to turn one adjuster all the way out to make the gap big enough to get it out, I put different bulbs in mine because the ones they came with were too yellow looking... When I install these HID kits I'm going to change them again to blue 194 bulbs...

About the pattern, it is quite weird at first, but it has grown on me, but yours being black, is most likely quite different than my chrome ones...

I was gonna go the Silverstar route, but im set on doing HID's now, EVERYONE has aftermarket bulbs these days...

The 8k is more blue, but looking at the in car pics they look way better than the 6k's in reflector housings...

No, I plan to order from HLA, the price I stated is more because of upgrading to the slim ballast for an additional $45 dollars per kit...
If I'm doing high beam and low beam kits, I'll have 4 ballast's and not much space to hide them...

I dont know where you got your coloring chart from but it ain't correct. 4300 to 5000 is almost pure white. 6k has a tinge of blue, 8k has a noticeable amount of blue, 8k has a lot, 10k you start turning purple. The closer to white you get the less problems you'll have with your local pd.

Hey Brian - Thanks for the question! I put pics showing the differences out on the web-site. Take a look under the HID Conversion Kits Link. I would highly recommend the slim. It is super sleek! Give me shout if you need any other info.

Tiny pics, but I see a difference well worth paying the extra for!

Any bigger pics? Cause I know someone else is gonna ask! lol

Got the image straight from HLA's website, right click the properties on the image...

Pretty sure I'm gonna go with the 8000k's and install my 4-hi-mod at the same time so I can run both sets when in hi-beam mode for "super lighting" :)

HLA,
What is the manufacturer of your ballasts? I've read that the ballast is the part that is critical for longevity of these lights.
