I just installed the steering wheel audio kit compliments of JP Customs (http://www.jpcustoms.com) and I have got to say that I am very happy w/ the kit. As tricky as the installed looked w/ the excellent instructions provided I had the whole truck tore apart and put back together in just a little over three hours. Probably could have done it faster, but I wanted to take some picutes and paint the steering column trim. The kit that I got was the painted to match kit (I've got the graphite interior) and I was going to paint it to match, but after looking at the dash and realizing that the dash, bezel, column, back of the wheel, and the wheel itself were all different shades I said to heck w/ that and just painted them black. I also did the steering column trim while it was off and this week I'm going to do the bezel and the middle piece of the center console. But, overall I more than satisfied w/ the kit and highly recommend it. Here's some pics of the finished product and the install. I've got a bunch more pics on my website.

I'm not sure if it will work w/ an aftermarket h/u. I guess TBYRNE Motorsports found a way to integrate the suburban rear audio controls to an aftermarket H/U so I would think it may be feasible. You'd have to email jason pendlum on that one. jpendlum@hotmail.com As for fitting your wheel, I'm not sure if it would on that either, is the back of your wheel the same and it would need the same SIR coil because that has the air bag wire.

Cool pics, 3hrs is all? That's def. a mod I'll have to look into, especially if it can be used w/ aftermarket HU.

Jason, says that he is making kits for the pre-99 trucks and S-10s (not as though that matters on the fullsize fourum, but just food for thought) I don't know about hooking it up to the aftermarket headunits. It would probably require some wiring knowledge, but I'm sure it's feasible and if it is I'd like to know, my cousin has a 96 bonneville sse w/ a pioneer h/u and now his steering wheel controls are useless.

Hey guys, I just talked to a supplier last week that sells the PAC module that is for adapting steering wheel controls for an aftermarket radio. The guy said he was getting some in this week and I wanted to get one and check it out before I started offering it on the website.
I'm working on a kit for the 98 classics only. The 98's have the same airbag and steering wheel as the new trucks and it will work. I'm also working of the steering wheel controls kit for the S-10 trucks. Still in R&D, but I should be able to offer then in a few weeks.

That looks really great Chevy4x4trucks, you have definately transformed your interior in the last few months. Jason puts together some nice kits doesn't he :) I might have to break down and buy one myself.

Thanks for the compliments. I hope that these are just the start. I'm essentially trying to make my truck an LT pacakage and then some for less than it would cost for the LT package. So far, I've been able to do all of it a lot cheaper. I got the center console cheap, the CD player and tape deck for 75 bucks, and now the steering wheel audio kit from the escalade. I've got a lot more planned and I've got the time to do it, just need the money. I'm hoping to do a suspension lift though first.

Henry, I found the module I need to add the steering wheel controls for the aftermarket stereos. I'm going to go this weekend and pick one up from the supplier. He didn't have any when I talked to him last week and said he was getting some in this week.
I'm going to get one and check it out before I offer it. The last thing I want is some part that doesn't do what it says it does.
I know it's going to work fine, but I still want to get it and check it out.

I'll post messages on the forum once I add it to the product line.

Thats awesome Jason,
So is that module suppose to be able to control ALL aftermarket HU's?

Of course the aftermarket HU's are pretty much all digital, so how are you gonna configure the controls?

I imagine that there are still gonna be alot of things that will have to be adjusted on the HU itself (ie Bass, Treb, Fade, etc).

I'm not sure off all the detail yet, but I'm going to find out everything today. I'll let you know what I find out. Supposedly, the module interfaces with the IR port on the aftermarket radio. Basically it "learns" between the radio and the controls and blends the two together so the controls work correctly.
That's what I've learned so far, but I'm going to find out everything today. I'll get back to ya.
