put the code 'DS11001' in the comments
section when ordering. The prices will be adjusted to the discounted
price, so even though it will show normal price, their invoice will reflect
the discounted price when it ships.

weve got the discount on both so anyone who wants to jump in go ahead.

firms up shifts, extends tranny life, lowers tranny op. temp.

Sierra Sam
12-02-2002, 01:54 PM
For anyone who's installed either the Corvette or the billet servo -- how much difference is there over stock? Does the Corvette servo just firm up the 1-2 shift, or all shifts? How is the billet servo for everyday driving?
Thanks.

Z71Silverado98
12-02-2002, 02:43 PM
ive heard that the billet is brutal on passengers, and apparently is noticably firms up 1-2 but actually firms everything up

Z71Silverado98
12-02-2002, 02:55 PM
Ive talked to the Co. and they have agreed not to ship till i say when that way they can tally up all the numbers and give the discount, so if everyone could just post confirming your buy, that would help. so that no one gets left out.

but i need you guys to help me, when everyone has order i can give the ok, but right now im in the dark as to how many orders have been made.

i get off of work in about 30mins and have no computer access after that, so if someone who might hang around from home could spread the word about the order that would help, i made a list in a prev. post and i know its alot to ask but a PM to everyone on the list reminding them would help alot, a mod or admin might be able to help w/ that.

your welcome, and thanks to everyone who has ordered. well after i heard "i gave up a month ago" i decided something needed to be done.

unfortunately price plus shipping. man i missed a day at work and gp really takes off, i think ill take more sick days.

we have 7 corvettes on order, just 3 more for the 10-up discount anyone else (just about every truck on this forum is compatable w/ it). man i wish we could hit 30 just to see what kinda prices they would offer.

Z71Silverado98
12-05-2002, 11:29 AM
how long are you willing to wait? id like to see it go to 10, but youve ordered first, your waiting on your product longest, how long do you feel it should go?

i can tell them to wait till 10 on the vettes

the billet and vette are independant of each other, so if i say alright on the vettes, the billet can hold of for 5 or 10 what ever.

billet duration is up to the billet guys.

Mark Y2K Sierra
12-05-2002, 11:34 AM
Don't worry about me. I have waited three years :D :kidding:
Whatever if you want to give it a date deadline or 10 servos if fine. I am, not in any hurry my truck will still be there in 2 weeks and will be there in 10 years

sorry,i never answered your question levelgrape.

the corvette gives firm 1-2shifts, slightly firmer shifts everywhere else.

the billet gives aggressively firm 1-2shifts, significantly firmer shifts everywhere else.

Levelgrape you probably want to go with the Corvette Servo as the Billet one may be to harsh for you from the sounds of it.
Are you using the HPP3? This from what I have heard will compliment it.

Does anyone else know when you program the HPP3 should you say I have installed an aftermarket shift kit for the servo? What would that do?

Thanks,
Mark

Z71Silverado98
12-05-2002, 12:02 PM
well its not a kit, which would raise line presures. the hpp3 makes sure to leave pressures alone if a kit is accounted for to prevent overpressure on the trans.

just leave it the way you have it

BigTex
12-05-2002, 02:07 PM
In the "comments" blank on the order page, I asked about the tax. Here is a reply I got back within 5 minutes of my order:

Richard-

Thanks for the order. Tax is being applied to your order because it is being shipped to a Texas address. Since we are based out of Texas, by law we must charge sales tax for orders shipped within the state. Out of state orders are not charged sales tax.

Hope that helps and let us know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Chad

Well we definitely have 10 now. It looks like LS1.com deleted my post on the GP. It aggravates me because I don't know how many times I have sent people to Tims store and to LS1.com for their sposored GP's.

That's OK I am cancelling my membership at LS1.com and will not visit their anymore. Funny Pacific doesn't have a problem and either does FSC!

the beta products will cause no harm to the vehicle. There will
however, be a disclaimer for improper use - ie. not switching converter
lockup back to normal when the transmission indicator indicates the
transmission is too hot, etc. But yes, under normal use, the products
will not harm the vehicle.

also instead of a kickback i told him to give me a good deal on a transgo, instead, he gave the group $10 off any transgo product, valid any time w/ the code 'DS19007'

if large numbers (30+) start pouring in w/ the code he'll give more off.

What is the torque converter lockup control? If it is an item that would allow me to control the lockup I would be interested, I would like to be able to turn TC lockup off for the track, I could also test the Temp guages, if they need more test people for them.

That is if they need more people, let the other guys that ordered before me have the first choice.

NO, now we are at 8 Super servos and ? OD billet servos.

Sorry for the delay guys, I forgot all about the servo GP. Anyway, I ordered both the billet servos (the regular super and the OD). Man, did I ever get hit hard for shipping to Canada...$19.50!

If you guys are not in a hurry, can't we wait a bit to hit the number? At 1.54 exchange rate, every dollar adds up quickly!

Yo, im going to order the billet also tonight, so it will make my shifting rougher from 1-2? Will this harm tranny? So by rougher does it just jurk or what?? ALso if Im going to be running bigger tires soon like 37"s is it a bad idea to use the billet servor

Z71Silverado98
12-12-2002, 08:34 AM
it should make it quite stronger 1-2 i dont know about it being jerk-y ive got the electronic shift kit, and if you let it upshift then let off of the gas it gets really jerk-y, so my cure, heavier foot.

and its actually supposed to conserve your tranny by lowering temps throughout.

billet w/ 37's doesnt sound like a prob, your tranny will have more impact turning those big meats, and less time between shifts to lose power.

I watched my tranny guy install the corvette servo on one of my friends trucks, and it only took him about 30 mins or maybe a little more, he said he could have done it faster but we were standing around BS'ing about racing. I put mine in this morning. Would have been much easier it I had a lift and my hands were about half the size they are. Still not a bad install though. Took me a little under an hour from pulling out the tools to putting them up. Only lost about a 1/4 quart of fluid too. Here are some quick instructions from my experience:
1. Remove heatshield on pass side of tranny. Two 10mm bolts.
2. Remove clip ring. Pull servo cover out as far as you can with your hand. Then gently pry out with large screwdriver from bottom indent. Be careful because the screwdriver will slip easily if you are too rambuncious with it.
3. Pull out first piece of servo assembly (make a mental note of which way it is turned). Grab servo pin and pull out rest of assembly.
4. Change parts in assembly and reinstall in reverse order of removal.

Note: those of you with stock exhaust may have a little more clearance than I did.

i think I have problems. I installed the billet servo this morning with out the addjustable pin. I drove it around and could not feel a difference. With the stock servo, I could floor it at 35 and it would downshift into 1st, and chirp the tires. With the billet, it would only go down into 2nd. Also with the billet, when I floored it, it would get up to the shift point, and kind of stay there for a little bit. It also had a delayed shift at part throttle on the 1-2 shift. I decided i would take it back out and install the adjustable tip. I gound the nose off just like it told me, but i still couldnt get the cover seated all the way in. All of this and more has now taken me almost 6 hours, so i finally got off enough that i just put the stock back in. For the guys that have already installed the billet servo, Did you just put the servo in, and have strong shifts? Or did you have to make any adjustments?

I played around a little bit when I got off work yesterday and it will bark second (notice I said bark, not chirp) on WOT and shift real firm on 2-3. I also have my line pressure boosed up, the shift time lowered and TQM deleted with edit. Before the servo install it would slide between gears on WOT and sometimes hit the rev limiter on the 1-2. All that is solved now. Under part throttle the 1-2 shift actually got smother but you can still tell it is catching harder that before. I am pleased for the $15 price tag and 45 min in the driveway. I still need a shift kit though. :D

btw.. I have the Vette servo.

So are you running anything other than stock...? Like I said I get mild gains but not a firm bark...1-2 seem to be the strongest noticability, maybe I am not looking for the right thing...either way I am pleased with what I got for $$ spent..So whats the next performance GP...?

Got the billet servo installed yesterday. I took it to the dealer and had them install it. After looking at the directions, I am glad that I choose to do so. I'd rather spend the money and have it done right, that and if they mess it up.. it's their fault. It took him a while to understand the directions. Anyway, after taking a ride w/ the service man... he was impressed with the way that it shifted. After stomping on the gas a couple of times.. he noticed that it was a 4-wheel drive. He made the comment that it was alot quicker than others that he drove. Thought that was pretty funny. Definately noticed a really firm 1 - 2 shift. Chirps the tires if you stand on it going into second. I like it!!!! :head: Thanks for the group purchase.

I got the Vette servo also for my 99 Z-71 5.7L OBS. It shifts great!! Mild in city driving and a-little harder when you got your foot in it. I have the HPPlus on firm shift also and that is all the mods to the tranny. I want to put one in the Envoy now!!!!

redsierra
01-31-2003, 07:57 PM
Yes, but they say that the Billet servo is quite a bit more of a firm shift. Again, I am just hoping that it isn't too harsh.

VicRed4.8
02-03-2003, 01:20 AM
Dune Coon, do you know if they installed the adjustable tip with the servo? When I installed mine without it, the tanny did not shift hard at all, and got hung up in the gears longer. And with the tip installed, I couldnt get the servo cover on, so I had to go back to stock. Worst of all, the teflon rings got damaged with all the install/removal I had to do.
Does anybody know if you can buy the rings/seals seperatly?

wolfdog
02-05-2003, 11:47 AM
yes, you can buy the seals separatly. just go to a tranny shop and explain that you need all the seals. i.e. cover, piston etc.

Dune Coon
02-10-2003, 05:20 PM
You are correct, the 1 - 2 shift is hard. I have the HPPK which firms up the shift also. I had the shop install it, which I am greatful for having them do. That is something that I don't think that I could have done myself. Yes, he did install the whole kit (IE, rings, adjustable tip, ect). It does take some manuvering! I love the way it shifts now over having just the HPPK. It will get it going into second now with you foot placed firmly on the accelerator. If you drive normally (which I don't), it will shift like you have a shift kit installed. Not too bad. Not like what every one makes it out to be. My tranny guy was very impressed, so what does that tell ya. He didn't even know it was a 4-wheel drive when he test drove it. So, now I have everyone at the dealership wanting to take it for a test drive. Oh well, the price you pay for having a nice truck! Hope this helps. Good luck and have fun!! I did.

redsierra
02-10-2003, 06:46 PM
I just had my billet servo installed. They were trying to tell me that it would shift uncomfortably hard. I took my chances anyway. It really doesn't shift very hard when I am driving normal (you can feel it a bit though). And it certainly shifts harder when you step on it. It is too slippery out right now to really test it. I am towing my boat from the US to Canada next week so we will see how the OD servo works.

Funny thing happened once though. It was kind of "stuck" in gear. It hasn't reoccured, so I hope that it was just one of those things.

WELL, we finally installed the Billet Servo (http://www.kdsperformance.com/supser700r44.html) tongiht, starting at 6:00 and driving out of the garage at like 10:00. Getting the cover off was a snap, hand pressure and using a screwdriver to get the retaining ring out. We had to cut the blue seal keeping the cover on, its a PITA to pull off. 4th apply piston came off, then we REALLY had to tug the crap out of the servo assembly to get the whole unit out. But im glad we did, its hard to see in there. Then we sanded the inside holes of the servos that were in the kit with 400 grit, for like 15 minutes, that part was crappy...took FOREVER..

Finally got the servo assembly together...then the adjustable tip....we decided to leave it off instead of "guesstimate" how much to sand it....i did NOT use the adjustable tip..I wish they didnt send us unfinished unmachined parts...we did half of the manufacturing process on our own!!!!

The spring was kinda tough to get in the servo bore and stay while i put the tip in.. So i put both hands in, and had one end of the spring on the very end of the tip, and put the other end of the spring in the bore....remove hand that held spring in bore, then pushed it all in there.

The cover was impossible to put on, even with a crowbar against the exhaust.. <enter Ryans genious idea, made reality by a c-clamp> we put a c-clamp between the frame and cover, with the end that has the handle on the servo cover...couldnt have been any easier to get the cover in enough to put retaining clip back in....filled with fluid, and had a test drive!!!

First impression, didnt notice anything, i was being really gentle. went a round a corner, and stomped the bish....:rocking: :rocking: It really made a diff, in ALL the shift points!! Noticibly harder, felt really natural!! No revs or any crappy hangups like before. Also, on the near top speed test, it held third gear to about 105, very impressive:read: This was a really good mod, much better than my trim gone bad.....I have a freshly rebuilt 700-r4 and it runs like a CHAMP!!....:rocking: THANKS GROUP PURCHASE!!
