Had the truck 3 months and already had 2 flats, so I'm almost expert status on jacking fullsizes:read: I thought it was a joke the first time I saw a pair of cotton gardner type gloves in with the jacking tools:LOL: I guess if your on your way to a business meeting or a hot date they come in handy! No car I've ever had came with them, I'm sure caddy has them tho. Also chevy gives 3 extentions and the jack and lowering and raising the tire is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Being my first pickup I was impressed with the ease of changing a tire on the side of the road compared with numerous cars I've had which were as complicated as hell with those stupid donuts:cussing:

I hope Nutterbutter doesn't come in here and start telling us about his "jacking equipment". :read:

as dumb as they seem, the first time you get a flat in 2 feet of snow, and you realize you have no gloves with you, you will be very happy they threw them in.

also, make good window scrapers ;-)

i've had to do dozens of them, practically everyday at werk. what sucks is every company makes them different, so its like a puzzel trying to figure out where the tools are stashed, and how they go together. it still blows my mind though that ford is stupid enough to put the tire lowering tool for their trucks under the hood  thats just what you want when you go to let down your spare, red hot tools, idiots.

they are under the hood, not laying on the exhaust manifold......

I thought the gloves were a cool addition, never seen another manufacturer do that........... but I'm amused at simple things anyway, oh well:D

I agree, the stock equipment works alot better than the stock stuff that most manufacturers include..... but I still prefer "my" stuff. In my toolbox in the bed, I keep a 2.5 ton floor jack, several lug wrenches, and a pair of nice leather work gloves. :D Makes changing tires a breeze.

Well since we're on the subject of BMWs and flats...

My mom got one Wednesday night in her '02 330CiC. We were on our way to Bakersfield, she was in her car about 5 minutes ahead of me, and I was in my truck cruisin solo. Well we're about 15 minutes outside of Bakersfield and she calls and says "I've got a flat". So I see them on the side of the road and pull over, turn my hazards on and get out. She hasn't gotten out of the car yet, but she's on the phone with AAA. Long story short a AAA guy comes out and puts the spare tire on. So my mom was just ridin on the little space-saver donut spare, while the other tire is a pretty decent sized 245/40/17. Looked funny.
Today she replaced the flat tire with a Goodyear Eagle F1. Only 130 bucks for one 245/40/17 tire, I thought that was a pretty good deal. The Eagle F1's tread pattern is way more aggressive lookin than the factory-equipped Continentals, though I think my mom is still gonna replace the rear ones with Continentals next week.

I did notice during the flat-tire changing process that the jacking equipment and lug wrench were so much nicer than the one in my truck, though there were no gloves. :D

Gloves?!O.K.,this proves it.Too many yuppies drivin' trucks these days!:(
Anyway, another thing I started doing years ago. When you have your lug nuts off at home(doing tire rotations, brake jobs, whatever)put some anti-seize compound on the threads!Makes it a hell of alot easier to get the lug nuts off in the future, especially if your out in the middle of nowhere, and it's 10* out!:D

your right, they aren't on the exhaust manifold, they are right above the radiator and they get hot:devil:

I carry mechanix gloves with me all the time. You never know when you are going to get into a situation. Besides who wants to handle a hot tire that's been runnin 70 on the freeway for an hour?
