im gettin ready to go take a trip to price some tires/rims, i want the biggest tire i can fit. do you guys think i can fit the 34's? on 16x10 rim, or should i stick with 33's? i am well aware i will need to do some trimming. i just dont want to trim any metal from the body or from the bumper. with my 285's on 16x8's now, i have tons of clearance. thanks for your input, also do they make the bfg A/T's in 34? i read in a earlier post that bfg does offer 34's.

295/75/16 is what you are looking for. i would be tthat they will rub a little when mounted on your 16x8. 16x10s i think may be way too wide for you without a bodylift.

i thought 305's were 33's? also i want the tires to stick out a good bit to give it the tough look

305s are 33s. they only have a 70 % aspect ratio, not a 75:read:
305/70 and 285/75 are the EXACT same hieght, just different widths.

right now i've got 285/75, they measure about 31" with the tape measure, is this just that the tire runs small for being a 33''? what exactly do i need? a 305/70/? can someone please explain how all this works? a 295 can be a 34? and a 305 and a 285 are 33's? i dont get it:smokin: also it seems there will be no way i can fit a 34 on 10" wides? all help would be greatly appreciated.
and as for the swampers, the life is too short on that type of tire for me!

ok i think someone needs a lesson on metric tire sizing.....
follow, but tell me if im too hard to understand....
ok, we shall use the 285/75/16 tire for example.
285= the width of the tire in milimeters
75= aspect ration (75% of width..)
16=wheel size in inches( duh  )
ok so the formula i use is this. yes there is prolly easier but i do it my way.
width/10/2.54=width in inches. then times by aspect ratio, times product by 2(as there are two sidewalls in a diameter), then add wheel size.
so:
285/10=28.5 cm (there are 31 cm in a ft)
28.5 cm/2.54= 11.2 inches
11.2 inchs* 75% = 8.4
8.4 * 2= 16.8
plus wheel size= 32.8 (yes they are not "true" tires.) but they are 33s. just narrow ones
see what i mean???? hth
the first number, 285, 305, 295 means nothing in regard to hieght. its a formula. retarded metric system. its a useless failure of an idea. i know.

1)285/75/16 ~ 32.8x11.20
2)295/75/16~ 33.4x11.60
3)305/75/16~32.8x12.00
4)315/75/16~34.6x12.40
i believe you have the same clearance as a Z71+3" BL.
16x8: (1)-(3) can be done easily on 16x8.
(4) can be done with trimming and slight rubbing offroad.
you should be able to clear (1)-(3) on a 16x10. (4) will rub way too hard offroad, but im sure you could stuff it for street use(where it would still rub). a 34x11.50 tire on the 16x10 would be PERFECT for your setup :rocking:

anyone else have something to add to this? with 34's, how much diff would it be with gearing and all from a 33? i have stock 3.73 gearing, and i didnt plan on changing the gears, i was just goin to get the hypertech components to increase mileage. i know i've read previously that if u go to a 35 u must regear...thanks

while we are on the subject of metric tire sizes... I am running the 285/75/R16 and my cousin says that it is a 33" tire but doesn't actually sit 33" off the ground... If this is true, what tire actually does it the full 33" from the ground...in metric sizes... :fsg:

i don't see how that is possible..it may not be a true 33, but it does sit roughly 32.8". maybe they got it backwards? :)
01whiteoffroad: you will be fine with 34's since the recommended maximum is 35's with the 3.73s :read:
