I finally got my 4.10 gears installed!! For those looking for the shift that does not " fall on it's face", these are the gears to have. You have to have a programmer to let the computer know that you installed them.
Gas milage is still good!! Cruising at 70 mph on the freeway only at 2500 rpm's. you still will have enough gear also to pull to the programmers top speed limiter. I will be going to the track soon to see what type of improvements they have made. I'm thinking at least 0.5 tenths. put your motor right in the rpm range ( when the cam comes on).:) Hook up with rear tires is still real good and chirps the heck out of 2nd.

You'll definitely have to let us know how fast your truck is. How much were those gears anyway?

I know a guy who owns a rear end shop so I picked up the gears cheap. $125. spent another $150 to have them installed.

I am intersedted to see your before and after times. I want to change to 4.10's too. I also plan on getting some 18's w/ 285 55 on them... which will be a little taller than your tires, so that will lower the rpms a little. good luck at the track

As soon as I get some times I will definitly post them. You will like having the gears in your truck, as for the tires, you'll only be about 1/4" - 1/2" taller than mine. probly give you couple hundred rmps lower.

did you change the bearings when you switched the gears? i have been calling around to see how much it would cost to get this done, and some shops tell me to put new bearings in. i only have 25,000 miles on the truck.

NO... You don't have to replace the bearings. the only thing they have to do is put the new ring gear on the carrier and switch the bearing off the old ponion to the new one. then it has to be shimmed.

Hey Sit-N-Low: I know that this is a bit off subject, but what type of T/B Spacer are you running? I have heard that the "Helix Power Tower" is good any suggestions?
