Does scratch remover work?

Hey guys does that scratch remover stuff you see on tv actually work? I have some scratches on my tailgate that I want to get rid of. If so whats the best kind I can get and where can I get it?

NO! Go out and get Scratch-X by Meguars for the light stuff and if you still have some marks get light polishing compound by a rep. company like 3M, Meguars etc.

Don't rub that GS27 shit on your paint!!!!!!!!!! You'll be sorry. You have to go buy two stages of Meguirs swirl remover to fix the swirls that you created to fix the scratch. My brother rubbed that junk on his truck and he may as well have rubbed a handful of sand on his paint. I agree with CKTA, try the Meguir's Scratch X and then maybe a finer swirl remover as a finishing touch.

When I had my Tahoe I went out and bought a bottle of Turtle wax color cure. It's the best stuff I've ever seen. I had a scratch that was down to the metal on my green paint and it made it blend in perfectly and this wasn't any wussy scratch it was on mean mofo. after I did that I just did the whole vehicle in the stuff and it made the paint look almost like new.:)

That scratch remover stuff is bad for your paint, like the others said use 3m or Meguirs swirl remover.

It's not really a scratch remover. I should have made myself more clear I used the chipstik which come with the color cure to temporarly fix the chips/scrathes.

No total waste of time. If it is that deep fill the scratch w/ touch-up paint wait about 3 weeks wet-sand and buff and you will hardly be able to tell.

Scratch remover usually works like this-

1- you go to store, purchase scratch remover

2-they take your hard earned money

3-you go home, only to find that it's really just ben-gay in a remarked jar (in other words, it doesn't work!)

4- your're pissed, they have your money

Well i did get that maguir's scratch x and it actually did work. It took out all but one majorly deep scratch.

we used that trick at the body shop i used to work at. works great most of the time.

Meguirs is great. My dad uses it on his black four wheel drive after he takes it in the woods durning hunting season and you can't tell it has a scratch on it...I even use it to remove bugs off the front of my truck.

i tried the scratch-X on my truck, but it did not work. the scratch was a little too deep. so where can i get some light pewter metllic touch up paint at? local parts store?

Anyone here ever try the 3M finnessit-2 (or something to that nature)
This stuff is the best i have found yet to remove those stubborn swirl marks on paint!!! Leaves the truck looking like wet glass! Its a bit pricey but it works sooo well i dont mind paying for it!!! Oh and you need a good polisher for it like a porter cable or along those lines! The little craftsman buffers dont do squat! :(

How exactly do you "wet-sand"? Take sand paper to the surrounding finish??
