1988 to 1999 GMC/Chevy trucks:

Energy Suspension Poly Mounts...both are the same part number: Clamshell engine mounts with three mounting holes #3-1121

These are off my 1996 GMC K1500 with 130,000 miles on the orginal mounts.

Also I forgot to mention that you need to lube both sides of the new poly mounts before tie straping them down...I also went ahead and repainted mine black...I used some real sticky grease otherwise you may get a squeek when the engine torques up!

Did the R&R with the engine out...so it was pretty easy....they use tie straps to hold it together then when you bolt it back in place that holds the two steel halfs in place....If the engine is still in the truck you will need to jack up the engine a bit with a flat board over the oil pan.

Well I got to put 15 miles on the truck this weekend....replaced both engine and trans mount...if you don't like any vibration being transmitted inside the cab on take off then this is not the mod for you as you can feel it just off idle but it does not get any worse with more load...they may soften up a bit after some use and I will repost if that happens....anyway I kind of like the feel...lets me know I have 500+HP under the hood :)

Not much engine movment...should put a frew more ponies to the wheels as well as there is no wasted hp wasting movment.

:word: i installed some with my new engine and it is slightly noitcable at idle but then again that could be the bigger cam in the engine... Its much worse than stock but ya the motor doesn't move. its nice

Yeah at idle you can't really feel any difference it's once you put a load on the engine....did yours soften up over time, decrease in loaded vibration?

Nice job! Great pics too.
How do you remove the original mounts from the crossmember?
I have my 90 on stands and was all set to change them, but I cant figure out how to remove the top nut on both mounts.
The bottom nuts "seem" easy enough.
Ready to put a crate in, and this has got me stumped.
Thanks
PS Not as straight forward as my 76 Stepside!

Yeah, mine were not that easy to do either esp since it was a 4x4 as the front diff gets in the way....I used a swivel socket to get up inside the frame..some times you can use a cut down wrench as well....you should see how many special wrenches I made just for jobs like this.

thanks for the writeup...came in handy. Although I am having trouble re-aligning my ls1 with the mounts. Bolts dont want to slide in anymore. Did you have to trim the excess poly from inside the bolt holes?

Not at all...if you are having problems getting the two steel sheels together you might have to clamp them in a vice and tack weld them so they will stay aligned.

Update....I love these mounts! With a good balanced engine it's smoother than the stock rubber mounts and stock engine.

Did you have to trim the excess poly from inside the bolt holes? I put poly mounts in my '87; I welded the shell back together and dropped the motor in with all the mount stuff on it. The holes in the mounts did NOT want to line up with the holes in the frame. I had some friends over and we just pried alot and eventually got the bolts and nuts in. It was a real sonofab!tch, but the stock rubber mounts were just way too floppy...

Hmm, I guess this post is about 3 years too late to help Jimmy P, but if you're considering this, know that it may be a real pain to get the bolts in the holes.
