I have an '02 Tahoe and want to install a DVD system for my kids to watch during trips. What are some of the better systems and what is the approximate cost for the system and install. Any help is appreciated.

You should be able to find screens for about 350-500 for at least decent ones like headrest ones or a fold down, and for my dvd system, i have my playstation 2 so someone can play games or watch a movie which is 200 and 50 for an ac/dc converter, and usually mobile dvd players are around $200, and there are the expensive in-dash dvd/cd players which go for a grand which usually are 7" screens....as for labor, u may have to ask around at local shops.

Yeah, I would think you would just need a screen and the PS2. Power to the screen and a video input to the screen and if you wanted sound, you would need an AUX input on your head unit. Of course a power source for the PS2 (inverter).

O snap I forgot about the sound!! Thats for the reply. I dunno if I could do this thought without it making my interior look crowded, cause i only have a reg. cab. Does anyone have any pics of some screens in a reg cab?? And i kinda wanted to keep my origional cd player cause i would like to keep my system hidden.

Thanx

You can put 4" screens in your visors and/or a center fold-down mounted on the roof (depending on the year/set-up of your truck depends on whether or not the roof one is stealth(whether or not it has that factory center ceiling piece w/ domelights and such)), and some people put screens in their glove boxes, but that's mostly in cars though

Well, what CD player do you have? Stock or after-market. If it is an after-market one, dependes on the model, you can buy an AUX input adaptor. If stock then, I don't know, sorry.

Its the stock CD player, its got the tape player and radio up top and then a seperate CD payer below that. How much would some screens for the visors be?

Thanx

The Screens i have in my headrest were like 300 each and they will fit sunvisors, in fact mine are going to be going in my visors as soon as i buy me new ones for my headrest. i think shops around where i live charge like $75.00 each visor to put screens in the visors.

If you have the console on the roof, you can put a 5" screen in the CD holder. Its totally stealth and no one can see if when its parked. My screen cost $180 and I love it, has an awesome picture. For sound i use a FM modulator, but i hate it. I am going to try to use the aux input with the CD player and see if i can split the input. For movies I use the PS2. So for $200 for the PS2, $180 for the monitor, and $30 for the modulator, I got a good setup for less than $500. But i looked at a ton of places to find a good monitor before i bought it. They had some real expensive ones but they didnt have as good of picture, so make sure you see the monitor working before you buy it.
HTH.

I went to a local stereo shop and asked about a DVD player and monitor setup for the Yukon and for 2 5.6" screens in the headrests and a Blaupunkt DVD player under the seat and everything installed I was quoted $1,000.

You probably have an overhead console, so having an overhead monitor wouldn't be best. Other than an in-dash, all I can think of is sun visors.
