Hey 99GMC and all others, today I re-routed the rear drivers side emergency brake cable. The cable used to hang down and get hung-up on brush and stuff around my place so I decided to re-route the cable on top of the differential instead of below like GM had it. The emergency brakes were checked afterwards and all is working fine.

That is a very good idea John! Why did GM put it under the differential? and when did they start doing that? Mine is on the top side of the differential where it should be.;)

I just threw the bracket in my toolbox y2kboti. I tested it and the spring compreses and the latch moves so I don't think the way I have it needs the bracket. I used some heavy duty ty-wraps and joined the right and left cable together and its pretty rigid. Seems to work fine.

Hdmax, I guess they started that in the 99-up trucks but I don't know why. The passenger side is above like it should be. I recommend this mod to everyone concerned.

I tell you guys it wasn't hard at all. It only took about 30 min. The hardest part was figuring out how the cablejacket was held into the bracket, there are three tabs that have to be depressed to pull it out. I don't know why I never tried this before.

Was it pretty easy to disconnect the cable? I really need to do this mod also.
