I have been driving an 87 Buick GN since it was new until purchasing a 2001 GMC Sierra C3 in late Sept as a daily drive.

I've been in computer programming since college, BS Math/Computer Science 1972.

I have completed some mods to the GN, see website, but have not made any changes to the C3.

I am suprised at the cost of truck performance items like cold air systems and performance chips.

Welcome to the board! The guy that did my pipes SAID he has a 900+ RWHP GN. I saw it, but have no clue how accurate that is.

Welcome to FSC Dan. I'm sure we can help you customize that C3 the way you want it. As for cost of parts. They are a little inflated, I think it's due to the demand these trucks have for aftermarket products. People will pay whatever it takes as long as they get it. Hopefully we can help you find good deals here, just ask before making any big purchase...lots of good tips and info here.

At www.turbobuick.com/forums there are quite a few guys there that have 12 sec cars, a few with 11 sec cars, fewer with 10 sec cars, that's seems to be the cutoff, but there is a post over there about using a very large turbo (PTE88) and these cars are in the 8's. These are not street legal cars, but still weight in over 3000 pounds.

One of the performance chips cost $25.00, but most are around $100.00. The cold air system on my car with 9" K&N cone filter was about $200 - $250.

I am still getting familar with the size of a full size pickup.:D

Here is the link if your interested.

welcome aboard buy...I always did like a nice GN....so many of them can be sleepers nowadays, seen as though all the kids out there are driving imports that they think are unbeatable. don't worry though, I am sure that you have killed a few with the GN....again welcome guy.

My uncle had a sweet '86 Regal T-Type. He bought the car new. He sold it last year with about 65,000 original miles on it. He never did let me drive that thing. I wanted that car so badly! :bawl:

Welcome to the boards!

Right now I have not set any plans for the C3. Later maybe a cold air system, a good performance chip, find out what the cheap tricks are. On the GN I block the TB heating lines, maybe do the same if it has such a thing.

I would like to install an anti-thief kill switch. I have two on the GN, one for the crank sensor and the other for the computer power. The chip I use has an anti-thief and a valet mode. If I can keep away from the forklifts and tow trucks I think the GN is safe.:D
