Hey everyone. I'm 20 years old and live right in the middle of lancaster county. And no I'm not amish. I have a 91 GMC Sierra. I have some alright mods on it now, but as son as I get outta college and start earning some bread it will be a much better machine. anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully i can be of help to the forum.

Nice to meet ya! I bet you have fun scaring the horses and buggies! :D:D:D I know I would.

j/k

I've driven in Indiana Amish country up around where my grandparents live. Definitely an odd experience for us Texans.

lol, scaring the horses is pretty fun, and they don't really appreciate it when you smoke your tires off on the day of rest (sunday)

The amish, well where do I start. I really don't like the a**holes. I think they are one of the most inconsiderate people on the earth. They basic think if you aren't amish, your going straight to hell. Anyway my favorite game to play with them is (call me a dick, but) to see how close I can get their buggy (that's only when they aren't on the berm of the road.) Anyway, that's my thoughts on the amish. lol

Another problem with the Amish is that their horses tear the sh!t out of the roads! I think those suckers should have to pay extra highway usage taxes over us humans! :D

I was raised in Ohio in Amish county. I just wanted to say that from my experience they are some of the finest people I have ever met. They live and work together well with us 'english' and my farmer relatives respect them. They tend to keep to themselves unless they know you. That is just their way of living as strangers I our modern world. Most people don't understand them and their seemingly backward and simply style of living. WHen I was a kid I stayed with an Amish family for a summer. Believe me it's a different world.

It's been over twenty years since I lived there, but when I go back to visit my old Amish friends, they are the most humble and gracious hosts. They would do anything for me and my family. Heck, even for the ones that don't know me, if I mention my grandfather's name and the location of his farm (now owned by Amish), they immediately warm up and treat me like I was family. I can still go back and hunt on my grandfather's former land anytime I want. My cousin lives there and is a farm animal vet. He does business with them and tells me that they always pay their bills and are good to work with. Unfortunately he can't say the same for his 'english' clients. I just want to provide some balance to this discussion by expressing my opinion.
