View Full Version : Who has the best nitrous system ? BadManGMC 01-03-2002, 03:06 PM What brand of nitrous do you all use and what do you think is the best brand?? bigred305 01-03-2002, 03:23 PM So what are you planning to put one on??? Blake's truck, Mac's truck, Adam's Truck, or Chris' truck? I would personally say either NOS or Nitrous Express.. BadManGMC 01-03-2002, 03:31 PM hahah I'm just looking around....won't to see what the these dudes are using.... bigred305 01-03-2002, 03:34 PM Just checkin....:D oxidizr 01-03-2002, 03:54 PM NOS is my preference. I've been using their products for many years. I've had complete kits and kits I have assembled myself: 86' GMC S-15 -Single Stage 100 HP -Wet twin fogger 95' Chevy Impala SS -Dual Stage 200 HP -dry 5176 LT1 kit (125-175) -wet single fogger (75) 98' Chevy Cavalier Z24 -Dual Stage 125 HP -Wet single fogger (50-75) -dry single fanspray (50-75) 01' Chevy Silverado -Dual Stage 130HP -dry 130 HP single fanspray -wet direct port 180 HP (progressive controlled) http://home.earthlink.net/~rwaitas/_uimages/purge.jpg Richard Ciapd 01-04-2002, 01:22 AM Well if money is no concern I say go with the venom nitrous system. BA system all computerized you can set when you want the nitrous to hit at what amount and how long. When I get my nitrous system in the coming months im going to get me a venom nitrous system. It will run you a good grand or so for there top of the line system though. BaileyMoto 01-04-2002, 03:05 AM I have seen a lot of threads regarding this, and it always seems to be the same answer, either NOS or NX (nitrous express). The quality is usually better. I dont care for all that fancy electronic crap, just seems like more to fail. People have been doing just fine doing it the old fashion way :) Ciapd 01-04-2002, 10:07 AM Yeah I guess a system that keeps you from destroying your engine is way to fancy. I mean no one needs a system that monitors the fuel and air mixture to make sure its not to lean and then cuts it off if it gets to lean. I mean whats a new engine anyway a couple thousand. I mean why not run the risk. I mean who wants something that works better then the simple nos or nitrous express system. ;) 97Silverado 01-04-2002, 10:27 AM I am looking at a NX system, but alot of that has to do with the fact they are located right here in Wichita Falls. Nice to be able to have the "factory" do your setup!! 1badgmc 01-04-2002, 10:50 AM Originally posted by 97Silverado I am looking at a NX system, but alot of that has to do with the fact they are located right here in Wichita Falls. Nice to be able to have the "factory" do your setup!! hehe...yep. If I were to ever get into nitrous, it'd be NX all the way. I have 3 good friends who work up there, so it makes it that much more definite. :D Have you seen the new building they're putting up behind the old place on SW Pkwy? That thing is HUGE! 97Silverado 01-04-2002, 10:52 AM Originally posted by 1badgmc hehe...yep. If I were to ever get into nitrous, it'd be NX all the way. If you're heading west coming down the hill from Sutherland's, it's right there on your right just before Lake Park Dr. The building behind the one that's being built now that looks like a house with a privacy fence around it is their current building. 97Silverado 01-04-2002, 11:00 AM Originally posted by 1badgmc If you're heading west coming down the hill from Sutherland's, it's right there on your right just before Lake Park Dr. The building behind the one that's being built now that looks like a house with a privacy fence around it is their current building. Duh. I realized where after I posetd my last. 1badgmc 01-04-2002, 11:03 AM Originally posted by 97Silverado Duh. Can you guess what the other half is? 97Silverado 01-04-2002, 11:06 AM Originally posted by 1badgmc hehe...Dork! :D Hey, do you realize that NX is only half of the business? Can you guess what the other half is? not really sure, no........ 1badgmc 01-04-2002, 11:12 AM Originally posted by 97Silverado not really sure, no........ hehe....You're gonna laugh. NX is owned by Mike Woods. There is no sign that says Nitrous Express anywhere on the property. Just "Wood Family Enterprises." Do you know the Woods Convalescent Center on SW Pkwy by the old Food Lion? That's them! Nitrous and Nursing homes! What a combination!!! My friend who is the marketing manager for NX says that Mike Woods really hates the nursing home side of the business. Y2kand1Sierra 01-04-2002, 11:12 AM My sister in laws boyfriend has nitrous works on his...(now dont laugh)...Del Sol, hes only 17 so dont think too bad of him. I'm trying to teach him the value of GM products :) maybe he'll buy a Sunfire or something:D 97Silverado 01-04-2002, 12:41 PM Originally posted by 1badgmc hehe....You're gonna laugh. Now that IS funny!!:) oxidizr 01-04-2002, 04:08 PM Let me tell you some of my personal experience with Venom Performance. I have vistied their shop as I live a mere 20 mins away and have spoke to many members of their staff. Regarding the Venom nitrous system: *You CANNOT use it with a return style fuel system such as that on any 4.8,5.3 or 6.0L Chevy motor. The computer is incapable of compensating for non-static fuel pressure. *The system has been "attmepting to be released" for over 3 years as they have run into many issues. The system has been improved greatly but is still not problem free. Some Direct responces to your remarks: "Yeah I guess a system that keeps you from destroying your engine is way to fancy." -NO system is capable of making the claim you just stated...call Venom and ask them if they will warranty your blown motor if their system fails... I have already heard their answer...NO. Their system still requires the user to determine the "safe operating perameters" for which the system will operate. This is pontential for user error as as such would indemify them from any liability. "I mean no one needs a system that monitors the fuel and air mixture to make sure its not to lean and then cuts it off if it gets to lean." -NX has the very same devise available for their systems as well. Unfortunatley both systems read O2 voltage. If you have done any extensive analysis with standard O2 type sensors (non-wideband) you would realize they react for too slow to prevent damage. The monitor is a glorified Autometer stoich gauge. "I mean whats a new engine anyway a couple thousand. I mean why not run the risk. I mean who wants something that works better then the simple nos or nitrous express system. " -This is frightening...I have yet to see a Venom nitrous system on any contending nitrous race vehicle, especially domestic, that has proven to be any better. Last I recall, the Venom Civic burned down because of some "computer controlled" fuel system problem. Go figure. I'm not tring to bash , but I am well informed in the nitrous community and have followed this company from its early days when it was Phyton Injection (now the parent company) who remanufactured injector and made Mass-air meters. You can purchase digital progressive controllers, fuel pressure safety swithces, rpm window switches, full throttle switches and stoich monitors, but unfortunaltey no amount of failsafes will prevent an uninformed user from causing catastrophic engine failure. By the way, everthing that Venom has packaged together in one box is available in one form or another from any other nitrous manufacturer. Nitrous is no new science...From its conception in WWII German Warplanes to its use in modern day racing, the principles regarding its use remain the same only the "box" you buy it in differs. Richard BaileyMoto 01-04-2002, 04:21 PM amen :drunk: Ciapd 01-04-2002, 11:39 PM Shold I sue them for false advertising??? jwb 01-05-2002, 12:56 PM How much for a low power (50-100 or less) system for a TBI 350? BaileyMoto 01-05-2002, 02:31 PM I bought my used NX kit for $350 this kit new is roughly 500-600. Like someone already said, expect to pay almost $1000 to do it 'right'. that will include bottle heater, guages, purge, etc. vBulletin v3.5.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
