I am looking for a stepside bed for my 2001 Reg Cab. Where is a good place in Orange County ? Can I change my fleetside for a stepside? Or is there something differant in the frames?

I am thinking about getting a stepside bed for my 2001 reg cab.
I have a fleetside bed now , I want to change it over to a stepside? Can that be done ? Cost ?

Your going to need a new rear bumper because stepsides are different than fleet.....

You need a whole new bed, you can't just add the bedsides to a fleetside, as well as the mentiond bumper.

i haven't heard of people with such new trucks changing their bed that will problably cost alot of money
why didn't you just get the bed you wanted off the start that was only like 2 years ago right?

I always wanted the stepside in the first place...but I got a great deal on this fleetside 2001. It can cost that much to switch. I will do the work I just need to fine a stepside or switch it out with someone looking for a fleetside bed. :crazy:

Okay, the answer is you need everything. It won't be cheap either. If you get lucky you might find one from a total at a salvage yard that won't cost too much.

Im sure you can find one....Call around...But it might be hard finding the same color as of your tuck....you might have to paint it.....Call local body shops to,,,ask them how much they can get one for....

You can also drive around and when a ford is behind you stop really fast so he rear-ends you.....Then you get a new bed and you also take out a ford....:rocking: :rocking: :rocking:

I called a few yards here in Orange County with no luck.:(

I am just messing with you guys. I like fleetsides more than stepsides, lifted or lowered, but your truck is badass. I just prefer the fleetside or the stepside. My opinion.

I prefer the fleetsides too. I dont like ex cab stepsides, but rc stepsides are cool:D Plus the plastic bedsides are expensive if you ever get a dent.

Dont I wish all you got was a dent, fighting with the insurance company now over the huge crack in my stepside...would have been a helluva dent though, damn deer:sniper:

Well I hate my stepside, the step first of all sucks no grip just a piece of plastic, the material made is cracking and when you hit it, the nice plastic sound just sounds great around friends... plus its more expensive. Damnit i wish i would have picked out my truck
