What is involved or needed in a swap from a '99 4.8L to a '02 5.3L with the Whipple system? Any computer upgrades and is the nosecone on the blower the same for both motors? Thanks. I have the Diablo already, I can get a file from James at Runninwith theDevil.

A computer upgrade will be required if the 2002 motor is "drive-by-wire" You can tell this if you have no throttle cable.

As for the pulley, the 5.3 needs a cmaller pulley on the supercharger than the 4.8 does. It will work with the 4.8 pulley, albeit at lower power levels.

James,

You don't happen to know the actual sizes for the 4.8 and 5.3 STOCK pulleys, do you?

No, sorry - I do not. One other thing I forgot to mention - the belt will be shorter for the 5.3.

Thank you, sir!! I purchased my Whipple used and wanted to confirm that I had received the 5.3 the stock pulley...at 4 3/8", I do. I ahve a 4.0" pulley now, but it is still only at 7-8 lbs of boost. Appreciate the info!

Your welcome. Did you purchase the 4" pulley from Whipple? If you don't mind me asking, How much was it?

Actually, I purchased it from Dan Grant at Pacific Performance Engineering. The number is 714-985-4825. They are apparently geographically close to Whipple, but can get them to you faster and cheaper. Mine was $56 plus a somewhat steep $18 UPS charge. But for $74, what a difference!
