i will only answer your question if you agree to lay of the caps lock:read: :D

out of all the lifts. i would recommend CST or FFS. go to www.performancelifts.com

they sell both of them. both kits are basically the same, they use a stronger than fabtech hand crafted spindle and will give you 7 inches of lift.

if you want long travel CST has a cool kit. crazyaggie's truck rocks

my 2wd has the 6" fabtech, and my friend and i installed it. it is fairly simple to install, spindles, upper control arms, coils, and blocks. the coils are the trickiest part. i love my truck since it's been lifted(last yr sept.) and the only probs i've had is i had to get new balljoints this past month, but everything else has been great. the body lift was easy as well, just time consuming.

Get the FFS 7" lift, i have it and love it. Almost like stock on road and kicks *** off road. And looks 100 times better then stock.

cst kicks @ss if you can afford it... i personally am looking at the FFS kit... its cheaper than fabtech and has the fabbed spindles instead of cast Iron... it looks pretty strong, i hope that the quality is similar though.... check out nineball's truck, he has the 7" FFS kit.. it looks pretty :rocking:

Hey man you're not going to offend anybody here wanting to lift your rig. My neighbor just recently put a 6" Fabtech lift on his 2wd Rado. He and his roommate installed it and he told me it was a pretty easy install. The lift consist of upper control arms, lift spindles, beefy coil springs, and front and rear shocks. Pics below>>

What year and make? I ask this because if you have an 8-lug you have limited options. Trust me...I have an eight lug. In fact I'm droping my truck of this afternoon at 4WheelParts to have the FabTech 4 1/2" spindles installed. My advice: call or go down to 4WP and ask them. They have a plethra of information. If you want to know about how stocks options work, you talk to a stock broker. If you want to know about suspention lifts, talk to 4WP.

If you don't have any information they'll get you going in the right direction...from there, like anything else, you have to do your homework.

I talked to 4WP cause I'm in the market as well. They push Fabtech and want $3500 for kit, Eagle 589s, BFGs and install. I don't think they carry any other kit for the newer IFS.

Other shops seem to push Race Car Dynamics 6" (some other posters say cause it makes them the most money)

All none commericial entites seem to push CST or FFS (rip off of CST)

I've narrowed to either CST or RCD. Now I just gotta come up with cash. Maybe I'll start one of those paypal donation sites. Hehe.

as much as i like fabtechs old body kit. i think its the last one to buy out of the new body kits.

not that is at all a bad kit. there are just 3 others that are MUCH better IMO.

the CST/FFS are basically the same thing. 7 inches of lift. buy whichever is cheaper:read:

RCD is nice because it seems like it would be easiest on teh ball joints. EWOGO runs one on his truck. he is gonna be swaping it out soon talk to him if he wants to sell it.

i think FFS is you best bet dude.

never listen to anything 4WP says:read:

i did and now im :bawl:

ok. heres the deal with 4wp, or at least with my dealings with them. you go in. talk to them, ask them questions, blah blah blah...and heres what they do. they look at you with a stupid confused look on their face like a dog watching tv, and then say "well i think we have some fabtech kits that will work". thats about all they ever seem to push. dont ever go talk to them about 2wd truck, cause they are retarded. i did the suspension work on mine, and you shouldve seen their faces when i brought it in for gear work. you wouldve thought it was a ufo. "thats a 2wd truck whoa for out man" i cant reccomend enough the cst or ffs kit. i have the oem style cst longtravel. best investment ive ever made. 15 inches of travel and a 6" wider track. of course you gotta run fiberglass fenders in the front, but if you want a TRUELY capable 2wd truck, you should really start here. cst and ffs(cst knock off) are superior in quality. especially when it comes to the spindles. cst's and ffs's are fabricated, where as fabtechs are cast, and prone to cracking. i had a fabtech kit on my s10, and will never buy fabtech again. check out the pictures of my truck below on my image station account. if you have any more questions you can email or PM me, id be hapy to help.

ps. yeah cst is a little more costly, but you get what you pay for. trust me on this one.....except for ffs. ffs is very cost effective, but about the same quality as cst.....just a knock off. if you dont want long travel, i say go with ffs.

*****in. We have a winner. I haven't talked to a shop that carries FFS. Know of any? Or if I pick up a kit from Performancelifts where should I have it installed. I'm near HB.

I won't sue you if the shop screws up. (I saw that Performancelifts can't recommend any more for legal reasons. ****in Cali);)

well California Super Trucks shop is in San Bernardino, to far though...about a 1hr drive

I talked to the guys at Camburg already. Some of my buddies got their trucks lifted (both fords) prerunner style there. They carry CST and manufacture their own long travel stuff I think. My buddies were stoked on that shop. I wonder though, do shops get pissed if you just bring in the kit and say "here ya go put it together for me." I guess its install money either way.

CrazyAggie05
03-19-2003, 03:40 PM
im not sure how mechanically inclined you are, but the install is EASY. my two buddies and i did my long travel kit, and thats more involved than the ffs. you might be able to do it yourself and save some money :D

just ask them if they do installs only. some places might not, but business is business.

ya camburg has done some insane custom work. ive seen a couple of their fords in HB. they made a sick old body ford prerunner. its black incase youve seen it

i agree with aggie though. self install wouldnt be too hard. my buddy put his spindle lift on his 2k1 in a few hours with his dad. he said it was so easy. and he has done a coil lift too. and he aint a mechanic by any means :D

hmmm. I put a K&N filter in my truck by myself, put the sticker on my back window and everything. how much harder could the lift be! :assclown:

Just for fun I called 4 Wheel Parts and asked if they would install a lift kit that I brought them (e.g. if I bought a FFS kit from PL). They said no due to warranty issues. Funny.

CrazyAggie05
03-19-2003, 06:20 PM
yeah 4wp is no fun. they are a bunch of liability/warranty whores. they wouldnt weld my bump stop mounts for me. then they decided, hey we can make some quick cash. so they "called their regional manager", and he said "yeah if the guy brings in the instructions and pays 90 dollars". yeah right. 90 friggen bucks for two like 2 inch long welds. and its not in the instructions....but its reccomended by jeff....argh......i hate 4wp.

:word: if we could figure it out, a monkey could probably do it.... the only thing i can think of that would be different, would be trying to fit those springs with the stock lower control arm... we didnt need spring compressors, but unless you get the long travel kit, you will...I guess we'll find out this summer, when i get the FFS kit..:rocking:

How do 2wd trucks with lifts do offroad? Do they just get stuck or can they do a little bit?

I got my FFS lift at 4 Wheel Unlimited in Pomona.

FFS kit: 999.00 w/ Pro Comp ES3000 shocks
Install: 200.00
Alignment : 75.00 (i know its a little too much $$$, but i wanted everything done at once)
Tax: ??
Total: $1357, for the complete kit and everything that goes along with it. I think i got a pretty good deal.

And i scored my AR Bajas and BFG AT's for a total of $400.

know your limits. also, having the right kind if 2wd kit(ie, long travel) allows you to do some pretty cool stuff. for example, ive gone down a pot holed, rocky, muddy, and all out nasty farm road at like 60-70 mph with no problem. suspension soaks it up really really well. thats what happens when you got 15 inches to use. so if you use it for the right type of stuff, yeah a 2wd can be damn capable.
