I broke down and ordered it yesterday ...

Sam, you remember how long it took yours to come in?

Now all I need is the blower package and a lot of time to install it all.

Got the software. It is installed on my laptop, now I am waiting on the cable.

Does anyone have any clues on how this stuff works?

sorry man, I am still pretty sore from my surgery, so I have been taking it easy. The way I started anything, was to read the user guide(I know it's brief) and do your first PCM read. Thsi will give you the ability to see all you rsettings such as your timing tables(under engine calibration), trans calibration settings, and so on. I have successfully matched my new files that I have been working on to a stock file that I got at the edit library. I had to get my timing tables back to stock, cause my superchips tuning was stuck in there.
I admit, it is tricky for those of us that don't know it, but I can answer some limited questions for you, and you need to subscribe to the mailing list so you can start getting the flow of mail from these guys that tune. After several months, I have started to at least pick up some stuff that is being said.
Some of the tuners will address you, most will ignore you. Ken Kelly, the guy who wrote the program, will answer your questions if you email him or use the mailing list. He has always answered me quickly when I ask a question.
Figure out how to do the PCM read, and that will be a good start.
I still haven't loaded my new tune intot he truck, cause I am healing, and pretty sore to be messing with it yet.

is the mailing l;ist optins that you are entitled to use

^library for searching for other peole's edit files they have uploaded for us to use. Ther is a only a few for our trucks.

NOW, before you waste a few HOURS like I did copying someone else's file for timing, etc., you can open two edit windows(it allows you to open it more than once for this) there is a compare feature that you can use"copy file" to the new file you are modifying. Thsi will let you copy a thousand lines of #'s onthe timing tables, etc., without putting the numbers in each box, manually. It sounds kinda hard, but it's not once you see what I am talkign about. I am pretty novice when it comes to this stuff, and it's not hard, just intimidating without a detailed guide.
Email me if I can help anymore with it. Like I said, I still have not loaded an edited PCM file yet, so that part is yet to be seen.
I can tell you that when you do your PCM read, you might want to leave the window down, and use the window to get in and out of the truck, as well as making sure you have a strong battery, or better yet have the laptop plugged in, because the read takea like a half hour!
I got stuck in my truck in the cold while doing this, so I wanted to give yo a heads up! My email is samuriarte@gci.net if you want to ask me any Q's. Like I said I am still pretty new, too, but I have edited the timing tables, used the compare feautre, and done a PCM read. Sam

Wow .. thanks a bunch for all that. That should give me a good start. I think I will look at some of the files in the library to see what it's all about until I get my cable and can jack with my tuning some.

Glad to hear your surgery went well. I am scheduled for eye surgery April 10th, the doc says I should be ready for a marathon in a week. It just so happens that the following weekend is a 3 day weekend so that is probably when I will be installing my blower, that is IF it is here in time.

I forgot something. There is also a %timing increase/decrease
Just for an idea of what the tunder boxes do, my superchip tuning was almost exactly 10% increased over stock. If you get any detonation(probably won't or not much I don't think), you can decrease the timing at a certain RPM/load by LITTLE increments. Just wanted to add that. There is compare file, use percentage for whole table, or maunally. That is what I have learned so far. Hope your surgery goes well. My surgeon was a total pro, but it is healing alot slower than I thought it would :/ still feel better though! :D
