Ok guys, I've got some 285/75/16 BFG AT's on stock 16" rims I need to fit onto my 96' 2wd Suburban. The burban sure looks like it needs quite a bit of lift to fit these things. I was thinking about putting blocks in the back, coil spacers in the front, and seeing if it works. This burban is going to be my ranch vehicle, so it won't see much road time(one tire is out of round anyway). What's the cheapest way of lifting the front end on a 2wd? It is the pre 00' model, so it doesn't have torsion bars. I might be able to put a 3" body lift on it, assuming I figure out which one of my friends has air tools, I'm not doing it again w/ just hand tools. Maybe some cutout flares? I don't want to put too much money into this though. Give me some ideas. As soon as I find my charger I'll get some pics.

If I go with coil spacers in the front, where can I get them? About how much total lift will I need to fit these tires? This thing currently looks like a lowrider :bawl:

This thing is going to be used primarily for flying around on loose dirt/sand. It's also going to see some loose rock(small type) in the hill country.

I'd be fine going prerunner style and just lifting the back a tiny bit so the tires will fit :naughty: Thinking about test fitting the tire in a week or so(when I get time) on the back, they might work as is... probably need 2" more though. I can't wait :naughty: I'm thinking about switching the wheels out to black rock crawlers(can get some cheap) in 16x8 or so.

I guess it's going to need a 3" body lift, 2" blocks in the back, 2" coil spacers up front... or 3" lift coils and spacers? Can I get new upper a-arms and lift coils pretty cheap? Then I can just put some longer shocks up front and I'd be good to go....

ah... to have a new project :naughty:

By far the best way is to go with lift spindles. It gives you 3" of lift without affecting ride quality, causing alignment issues, and stressing out idler arms, ball joints and bushings. I have tried all sorts of lift techniques on older model 2wd's and the spinles are by far the best for just gaining a little extra height.

Are the stock rims off a 4wd? if so, they will not fit the lug pattern.

About how much total lift should I need to be able to clear 285/75/16's on 16x8 Rockcrawlers?

also, does 4wp ever offer deals on 2wd Fabtech lifts... kinda like march = tire deals, feb = procomp deals etc... What month can I get a good deal on a Fabtech 4" Spindle... if I could get free install it would make it even easier on me :naughty: I'm a lazy bum.
