View Full Version : rubber other then GTII
Aside from the Goodyear Eagle GTII what other 20" rubber is there thats decently priced?
Ive stopped in a couple local shops, and no one deals in 20s regularily, so they dont have any good suggestions.
What other rubber is there that is in the 29.5" height that will fit on 8.5 inch tires?
I know MANY of you are running the newer trucks with DJM 4/6 kits, but what kind of rubber are you doing it with? Are you all going to ultra low profile rubber, or are any of you running standard height tires in the 255/45/20 range. Something thats not 27" tall ;\
I drive my truck. A lot. And dont want a rubber band around the wheel just to have 20s and a drop. And finding wheels in the right size to work with the 275/45s is looking both difficult and expensive.
What do you do? what do you run? help ;-) You all talked me into going 4/6 now help me, and im sure other budget minded truckers fullfil there dream without having to miss a rent payment

The only other tire I have run across that is similar in height is the 255/50/20. Nitto has an NT-404 in that size that is 29.7" tall. The only problem is that they run about $220 a tire. I have been searching for a chrome 20 x 8 w/ 5.5" bs or 20 x 8.5 w/ 6" bs for a decent price for two months now to no avail. I won't put a billet wheel on my truck after having them on my car for three years. If I didn't clean the wheel every week it looked like crap and I had to bust out the polishing wheel. I drive my truck everyday, and I drive it hard. It sounds like we are in the same boat. Let me know if you come up with anything.

for the year that i've owned my truck, i've been looking for that same magic wheel. it does not exist. check out boze wheels for their "Millinium Chrome" billet wheels. they use a process similar to powder coating and warranty the finish for 5 years. of course, like all custom cut billet wheels, be prepared to spend some cash.
hope this helps.
why must they make things so difficult.
Im starting to consider the 18" / 20" combo..
see if i have more luck getting a pair of 29.5~ tires to fit and still have no issues.
Mood, what you running? just the stocks?

you can get brand new 245/40R20's on ebay for $200 a piece from a few different companies
thanks for the tip, but i dont want rubber bands. (something 29-30" in height. those arent even 28. I need more rubber then that.
However, i think i found some 20x8.5 w/6 backspacing. Just have to get the dealer to call and confirm. But he says hes got them. See my other thread

I don't really like goodyear tires...but from what i understand they are decent...but in my few years of driving, i've never liked a goodyear that i've owned :read:

I dont know much about the 99+ trucks but........
a 295/40/20 is 29.29" tall, and they are made by a few companies. the cheapest being the goodyear eagle hp ultra plus, 163 each at tirerack.com. I dont know if these are too wide though.
