I just bought some new chrome/aluminum wheels.....whats the best wax/polish/protectant to use?

I need something I dont have to order (name brand), something I can get at any local auto parts store.

Also, any special care, polishing cloths...etc?

I have never owned chrome aluminum wheels before so any and all help will be appreciated :worship:

On chrome I like to use Brasso w/ a clean T-shirt. You can get it in supermarkets around here.

They are all pretty good, IMO. I definitely agree with the t-shirt bit. I have a ton of old brown army t-shirts that have been retired to polishing duties!!

If you plan on cleaning/quick detailing them w/ Windex like everyone else does i would'nt bother.

But, any wax on chrome will work just fine.

I use NuFinish. I'm sure the Zaino is better but I can buy the NuFinish locally and for cheaper. My wheels are smooth as hell and really easy to keep clean after about 30 polishes. :D I just bought some of that Brasso yesterday, I'm gonna try it next time I wash my truck whenever the hell it's stops raining.

Lemme know how they compare. I need to buy something soon. Like you said its been raining and these wheels still have the installers fingerprints on them so they need cleaning.

None of these listed are abrasive are they?

I used to use turle wax chrome polish then a coat of synthetic wax, like nufinish or flashwax. Look great.

Windex works great to clean wheels

Ok, while we're on the subject, what about polished aluminum wheels? Mine look better muddy than they do clean. They've got all kinds of water spots and stuff in them...dunno how to get it out, and keep it out.

Y2K, I must say your new setup is badass. There's some things I'd change but overall it looks damn sweet :rocking:

I'm a man of my word and I compared the Brasso and NuFinish side by side today. I just spent 3 hours washing my truck. I removed each wheel one by one and polished the entire wheel, damn it was a biatch. I tried the NuFinish on one wheel and the Brasso on the other. The one with the Brasso seriously looked better than I ever remember (even when they were new.) The shine is best described as "deep." I even polished the locking lugnuts, the damn wheels look better than new now. I did notice when I got water on them they spotted easily. I just lightly wiped them off though. I went ahead and bought a 3.5 ton jack and also rotated my tires while I was at it. :rocking:
