How does it work? Does the actual overlay light up? or is it still light up by the bulbs in the cluster?

the overlay lights up. it plugs into the transformer box.

hey MacADYear, ya know if i can chang the color of the gear selector with a simple bulb change? it's green of course & i would like it to match -well as close as possible- the blue on the guages.

Good question. I've always wondered the same thing. Mine pretty much matches the centers of my gauges already but I'd rather have it blue. Here's a pic (http://www.proidt.com/silverado/g4.JPG) of what I'm talking about... :D

You might be able to change it but its not a simple bulb change.
The only other bulbs I saw on the back of the cluster were for the turn signals etc....

So you would probaly have to wire up some leds in there somehow... I have looked at that one yet....:read:

Hey so if the overlay lights up what happens to the lights in the cluster? Do you have it dimmed on the switch? Or does the light from the stock bulbs still come through?

i'm assuming that the lights stay on. the transformer is wired to the head/dash light switch sowhenever the cluster lights are on, so is the overlay.

At least on mine, the overlay is pretty thick. There's the overlay then a circuit board attached to the back, there's no way you would be able to see the stock lights through it.

Think about it, if you had to dim the gauge lights it would dim all your dash lights and you wouldn't be able to see anything but the overlay lit up!! :slap: :D

Really? How long did it take you to figure that one out?:assclown:

I wanted to know because I have blue leds in my cluster and I wanted to know if it would affect the output...
