Good question. I've always wondered the same thing. Mine pretty much matches the centers of my gauges already but I'd rather have it blue. You might be able to change it but its not a simple bulb change. The only other bulbs I saw on the back of the cluster were for the turn signals etc.... So you would probaly have to wire up some leds in there somehow... Or does the light from the stock bulbs still come through? i'm assuming that the lights stay on. the transformer is wired to the head/dash light switch sowhenever the cluster lights are on, so is the overlay. There's the overlay then a circuit board attached to the back, there's no way you would be able to see the stock lights through it.
