I attempted to install my silver face reverse gauges last night. The install went pretty well, but after I put the needles back on they would get stuck. Like when ya revved her up the rpm needle would drag on the overlay. I noticed that it IS possible to remove the factory face, but I wasn't sure if this is necessary to keep the new overlay from sticking up too much. Has anyone had trouble like this or any advice as to how to fix it. I also whited out the needles which of course :rocking:
PICS...

I decided to go back to the factory, cause the overlay was crappy since I couldn't figure out how to get the needles to work correctly. HELP!!! I want that bish back on there.

Thanks...I tried that too, but still had similar issues. I got pissed early this morning and threw the overlay in the yard. Well, my dog thought it was a frisbie and chewed it up before I realized what she was playing with. I think I'm gonna flatten the dog out and install her on the gauge. I am so p!ssed right now...I struggled with that bish trying to get the needles just right and my darn dog f'd it all up... :cussing: :cussing: Oh well, atleast I bought it on e-bay and it didn't set me back too much. Oh yea, there will be no pics of the chewed up overlay in case someone gets smart. I just handed it to the garbage man and had him compact it in his truck...:bawl: Ebay here I come...

the same thing happened to my guages when my bro was installing them the RPM needle kept on getting stuck, make sure that the overlay is laying flush as much as possible, it took my bro awhile to get it to lay down right, it just takes acouple of tries and some patience it should lay flat, good luck....TrEy:D

well guy im not trying to give you a hard time, just my take.but i to had problem with those overlay.i heard it was a lot easier to go with a caddy cluster with and white or silverface.its what i did.save myself grief and headache.i mean if your still going to spend more money on this you may want to concider that.plus you get a cauge for the tranny .....that works!:D

I had the same problem with gauges getting stuck. What i did was make it as flush as possible. and where it stuck up the most i took super glue and put one little tach of it there. I havn't had a problem since!

Since you are going through all the trouble, just get one of the gages out of an escalade. Its pricy but that is the Boombdizy!! If i could install that in my 98, i would. To much work if anyone is wondering.

The white needles are an easy free mod, if ya have white paint. I simply used a razor blade to scrape off the factory orange and used a white paint pen to recolor after the orange was gone. No cash out of pocket and about 15 minutes of my time.
Thanks all for the input. I will prolly get an escy cluster next. Cause there's no reason to drop more dough into another overlay. I'd be close to half a lade cluster then. :rocking:
