hey there,
been away from the board for a while now, but the good thing is that i am back. :)

I have a 1998 GMC Sierra Extended Cab 2wd. I bought it lowered and believe it has a Ground Force 4/6 drop. Coils and shocks up front and C-notch with 1 or 2 leaves removed.

I have 17" rims with 275/50 tires on back and 255/50 tires in front. The front tires rub if I turn in to park real tight or u-turn. : (

But my question is... My front tires wear out real quick from the outer sides. Is it because of the kit that was used? (Aka: cheap parts) Because I need drop spindles? I need an alignment at closer intervals or alignment kit?

I keep hearing that "it was done wrong" because it just has springs and no drop spindles. And that other suspension parts are hurting because of this.

I would also like to get some better quality shocks for a better ride.

Future mods/improvments are:

Hopefully these real nice wheels - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33748&item=2414310921

Wheel well lips removed.

And some new front tires because steel thread is showing already.

Please reply with contacts so that I can send them private messages with the parts I should get.

P.S. I thought about air bag setup but here in El Paso, TX there is 1 real Air Ride dealer. His labor prices are crazy and I doubt the quality of the work. SO this is my alternative.

Well, if you have a 4/6 drop on your truck done with coils only up front and the removal of some leaves in the back then it's not a Ground Force kit. It might have Ground Force coils on it, but they were cut down to be 4". It sounds like you need to replace everything but the c-notch.

In your sig you say 5/7 drop. Is this what you're wanting? If so, then I would buy a pair of 3" coils and 2" spindles for the front. Out back I'd get a pair of complete spring packs and then do a flip kit with a pair of adjustable shackles set in the 1" hole. If you only want to end up with a 4/6, then just use 2" springs up front instead of 3" springs and then in the rear just don't bother with the drop shackles. Since it's an extended cab and it sounds like the current drop is a hack job, I'd go ahead and get a carrier bearing shim too.

For shocks I would go with a set of Doetsch Techs.
