View Full Version : Clearing out Needles

So your thinking about clearing your needles either to keep clear or to paint. This is an easy mod but can also be a MAJOR PITA!

Things you will need:
Fork or needle tool
Razor blade or X-acto knife
Sandpaper (I used testors model paper)
Rubbing compound


WARNING! You can throw your gauges completely off.

I started off by using the fork to pop the needle off.
Then I used the X-acto to scrape most of the orange off. There was some that didnt come off but I used the second to finest paper in the package to wet sand the rest off. Then I used the finest to smooth it back out.

Next I used heavy duty rubbing compound to help smooth it and finished it up with Polishing compound.

Now they can be painted. They should be painted from the back side, like an R/C car body!

I would recomend using PACTRA or some other paint designed for R/C's they have a powder-ish look to them and it looks better for this application.
