When I decided to lower my truck with a DJM kit, I knew I didn't want to use their toxic shocks. So after much searching, I decided on DoetschTech shocks. I knew that SportTruckDirect sold them, so I gave them a call. The guy I talked to said that Doetsch didn't make an application for my truck that would work with the DJM kit. He almost sounded pissed that I didn't go with their lowering kit. I then call Doetsch, and a friendly lady on the other end of the line said that they do make shocks that would work and even gave me the part numbers. I re-contacted the SportTruckDirect and got the same guy on the line, he recognized my voice too. I told him that I found out the shocks that I needed and he said that Doetsch didn't make the shock. I then told him that I contacted Doetsch and that I had a part number. After a little stuttering, he replied that they are too new and they didn't have them in stock yet. I could tell that he didn't even bother looking it up. So I recontacted Doetsch to see if they could help me out. They refered me to WWW.MACSSPRING.COM. I called mac and they were very courteous and professional. I told the guy the shocks that I needed and he said they had them in stock. He then asked me how I was lowering my truck, so that he could make sure the shocks would fit. The shocks came out to $31 a piece. I placed the order at 2:00 PM. They arrived the very next day. I was real supprised to find out that they didn't even charge for shipping.

Are you satisfied with the Doetsch shock absorbers? I am going to purchase a set for my truck. :)

These shocks rock. My truck has a real sportscar like feel to it, a lot firmer than stock. Considering that I only have 1" of travel before my axle hits the bumpstops, I rarely bottom out, except on bigger speed bumps. It really flattens the car out on hard turns too. There's this bend that I use to take at 60 mph stock, at that speed, it felt like I was going to tip over, and the wheels would start to squeal. I tried it tonight and took it at 70, with no tire squeal. I could probably take it even faster, but it was my first time testing out the new suspension. I really can't say if its the drop or the shocks that made the difference, but it is a big improvement. Deffinitely worth the $31-$40, if not more.

Do they make a similar shock for my 5.3? I am down 4/6, and need some new ones.

If you have a DJM drop, I can get you the shock specs later when I get home. I have their spec sheets.

The specs for the shocks you need, directly from the DJM manual, are:

Front:
-ext. length: 14.5"
-col. length: 9.5"
-upper mount: Stem
-lower mount: Loop

Rear Driver's Side:
-ext. length: 18.5"
-col. length: 11.75"
-upper mount: Loop
-lower mount: Loop

Rear Pass. Side:
-ext. length: 19.5"
-col. length: 12.25"
-upper mount: Loop
-lower mount: Loop

The DoetschTech shocks I think you would need would be 4080G in front, and 4095G (driver's side), and 4163G(pass. side). Don't take my word for it though. Call Mac's, tell them the specs you need and they'll let you know for sure.
