What is the best thing to clean my wheels(Polished Aluminum American Racing Sliders) with? I bought some kind of rain x wheel protectant to put on after cleaning. Is it any good? I have white lettered BFG tires that I need to clean. I have used Bleach White in the past, but I now have spots on my wheels where it has touched. What is the best tire cleaner that won't mess up my aluminum rims? Thanks for your help.

Aggghhh.....don't let that Wesley's Bleach stuff on your aluminum. It will stain...and probably not come out. Don't put any "sealer" on your rims till you've polished the stains out. I personally use Eagle One Billet Polish for my stuff, but any good brand name (Mothers, NeverDull, ect...) will do just as well. Try polishing the crap outta the stain areas and see if you can get any results....

As for the white letters...you can try Simple Green to clean them. Id highly recommend that the wheels be cold and wet them before hand. Try only spraying the SG on a brush and rubbing the lettering then rinse thoroughly. Get as little of the tire cleaner as possible on the rims...almost anything will stain polishe aluminum since it is pourous.

Little blue SOS pads on the white letters, takes a little elbow work, but won't mess up rims like spray stuff.

i have polished aluminum Classic II's and i am extremely pleased with mothers mag and aluminum polish (in the small paste jar) i got it at walmart and it takes me an hour to do all 4 rims and they look great afterwards, water will bead up on them too after you clean so it makes for easier cleaning after a trip through the mud of whatever.

hope this helps

ha, its gonna have to be routine if you want em looking good. I usually do mine when i clean the truck, which is about ever other week or for some special occasion. Its not to bad and water will bead up on em for about a week after you clean em.

YOu could always put Zaino on the aluminum after you polish it. Just use the Zaino for non-clear coated paints. I use Zaino on my clearcoated wheels and they stay clean for a loooong time.
