I dont know if anyone else feels the same as I do but I am really not happy with this motor. To me it is way underpowered. Also I think I have a problem. When accelerating the motor tachs up to about 2 grand, then goes back down to about 1700 then back to 2000 then shifts. Usually does it between 1st and second and second and third. This doesnt seem normal to me at all. Also when I let off going downhill it feels like I am throwing on an engine brake. Speeds drop off fast. Feels like something is holding me back. To me it should coast without any drag. On top of these problems, I have the nasty slap in the drivetrain. I've been to the dealer a few time and they wont do anthing about it. Claim there is nothing wrong. :bull:

Looks like the dreaded torque management. Also the 99's have a different cam than the 00' and up.

Not sure about the engine brake, cause my Yukon picks up speed going downhill.

I love my 4.8, I would say just like yukonturtle, get a predator, eliminate torque management and then tell us what you think.:read:

99's aren't supposed to have the dreaded TM problem like the rest do. :read:

supposedly it's not as bad...it's still there though. there is a big difference w/o tq management.

Get a programmer (Hypertech III), that will make her run much better. My '99 stock does not have the power of the 2000s on up, but she was never a dog. Back when I first bought it I took her straight to the exhaust shop to have a Flowmaster dual setup put on. The tech who installed it test drove the truck after the installation. When I came to pick it up he told me, "Man, that thing will go!"
