I received my ported & polished tb I ordered from Mark Shaner yesterday and installed it this morning. Install only took about 40 minutes, hardest part was getting that little plastic C-clip off that holds the cruise control to the tb. Any way, after about 10 miles I get and SES light!?
When I got home, I disconnected the NEG terminal from the battery and took off the TB. I had to use the TPS and other sensor (idle control?) from my tb on the new tb, I made sure the screws were tight. I reinstalled the tb and snugged it up good to the intake manifold. Reconnected the battery and the SES light was still there, used my HPP to reset the SES light (loaded same settings). Started the truck (no SES light) and took it around the block and it ran fine, ran fine when the SES light came on the first time. The SES light was the down side, the up side is the the truck has better throttle response and idles better. Jumped on it one time and it pulled good but hard to tell if it's actually quicker. If the SES light comes back, what could it be? Could the greater airflow from the tb and GMS maf along with the HPP settings (93 tuning) cause the light? Any info would help.
Thanks, Jim

What DTC code is being reported from the SES light?? Have it scanned and you might get an answer to your question. It could be many things setting it off. With out a scan we'll just be guessing.

Jim:
I work not far from Marks Shop. Infact I am picking up my T.B. Friday.
I had another friend that got one for his 2002 T.A. and had the same sorta deal going on. Mark worked on it for him and got it all straightened out. I know your in Ca., but give him a call and I'm sure he will work with you.
Also I will mention you to him when I visit him...Later JohnB

Hey John B! I did e-mail Mark and he got back to me, he didn't see why I would get an SES light. It may just be coincidental but putting the tb on was the only thing I did. The increased airflow along with the GMS maf and HPP 93 tuning may be to much for the ECM to handle, just a guess. The SES light hasn't come back on after the reset but I've only gone about 8 miles. I did tighten up on all the screws and connections when I did the reset, the AIC senser did have an O-ring, maybe it got kinked or twisted when I installed it in the ported tb. If the SES light comes back, I'll completely take the tb apart again and reinstall the TPS and AIC sensors to make sure all is ok with them. Then reset the computer one more time and uninstall the HPP tuning but leave the shift points, rev limiter, etc.. If the SES light comes back again, then I'll lnow it's not the HPP tuning and I'll go have it read and see what it is. Thanks for the word to Mark, I appreciate it!! :head:
