I want to run a JBL bp1200 and 2 12" kicker L5's. This is for my 1985 scottsdale. Any ideas on what i should use? Also my friend 00silverado told me about a guy on here who custom makes alternators and if you know who this is let me know. Thanks.

The 220 amp alternator from Dominick is a good choice. I have one, and it works great.

When going to the bigger case
1. Did you need a bigger belt?
2.Need to change wire gauge?
3.What is advantage off bigger case then smaller case besides the amperage output or size?
Small case 200amp is $20 more then 200amp large case?
What is the output on your 220 at idle?

1. No, same belt
2. If you need an alternator this big, you should upgrade them anyway.
3. Larger case allows higher outputs. small case has a limit of 200. large case Dominick can make 450's

The larger case has better output at idle than the smaller case.

I'm not sure what my output is at idle. But at Carlisle this year Ibthumpin brought his amp meter and with my stereo full tilt, I was pulling 129 amps of current and the voltage stayed over 13v at idle.
Dominick can make an alternator for any vehicle you want. Give him a call and he will talk to you about which alternator will work best for you. but be warned. have something to eat with you because he will talk to you for a while to answer all your questions.
Good guy..
