Gutting out the cat?

Would it mess anything up on my truck...I have a 90 1500 5.7L? Please answer. I have a flowmaster ( dont know which one) but it just isnt loud enought then i have 3 inch pipes. What can i do cheaply that will amke it louder?

my brothers subaru wrx came stock with 3 cats. we installed a aftermarket up pipe which eliminated 1 of the cats. it made it louder so it shouldnt hurt to gut your cat.

it made his car louder so it should make yours louder.
