Hello, my name is Rob. I'm a 27 y/o firefighter/ paramedic in IL. I have a drag racing probelm, my car takes most of my money, but after 3 years at the track I had my first breakage. Last Sunday I had a nitrous back fire that blew up all the soft parts of my TPI intake, that was the lest of my problems. The K&N's were blown into the radiator and caused coolant to leak in the trans cooler, thus a trans full of coolant. Well this was not a total loss becuase my wife let me go and buy my new truck, well new to me any way.
I ended up purchasing a Red 1998 Silverado, Z71, 5.7, auto, leather, AM/FM/CD, ext. 3rd door, drop in bed linner(will be replaced with a Line-X spray-in), and I do belive a towing package (2 batteries, class IV hitch, oil and trans cooler). The truck has 65K miles on it and the paint is in great shape. The truck seem to sit a little higher than a buddy of mine Z71, so I dont know if it had a small lift done to it or not. The truck also had the crappiest color matched nerf bars that were rusted something terable, so I took them off.
A little about my car that ate it, it's a 1987 Z28 with a 305 TPI auto. When I first purchased the car it ran a 15.6@85 mph. The second year it improved to a 14.4@94 mph. This year on the bottle for the first year ran a 12.7@104 mph on a 1.74 60' on BFG drag radials. 12.7 isnt the fast thing out there but it is on a stock bottom end and stock unported heads 305 smog engine. I hope to have the 355 done for next year and a 2 stage 300 hp nitrous set up, I run a single stage 100 shot on the 305.
I only see having cash to do some small mods to my truck, like intake, exhuast, nerf bars, and bed linner.:newb: Any input is welcome.

Well , welcome to this site, I am new as well. I wanted to read your post because it said Nitrous backfire. I wanted to reply to your post because you are a FF/pmedic. I also am a FF/pmedic down here in Atlanta. Just wanted to say hello and be safe. This forum seems to be a great place for information, as long as you can weed thru the crap. Good evening, Jim
