I have that problem too, but its on my wife's Toyota Camry. It has marks on the front window where something was written on it at one point. I have tried everything to get it off. We bought it used so it probably came from an auto auction. Any ideas on how to get it off would be appreciated.

Barkeepers Friend also works good, just keep scrubbing...and dont worry, it will not scratch the glass!

I use steel wool and a mild degreaser solution. It makes the window slick and clean. :D

codeman, do you think that barkeepers friend is safe for my paint? I have some waterspots on it and wondered if it will hurt my paint or not?

thanks

BKF is great for glass but don't scrub your paint with it. It is basically a fine "Comet type" abrasive. Polishes glass but would wreck the paint! Use a good polish or a clay bar for the paint.

Sorry I didnt reply earlier, ive been in/out of town. If youve got some hard water spots on your truck, chances are youve also got some fallout and oxidization buildup too. Get a claybar kit (mothers sells a good one) and clay your truck after you wash it, following with a good sealer wax. That should take care of your spots, and will make your paint smooth and mostly swirl free. You cant get all the swirls permanently out unless you polish your paint with compound.

Uhm.. seeing as your truck is black, i dont know if you want to polish it or not. From a personal experience, having family members with black vehicles, its hard enough to keep them clean as it is. When you polish it, youre taking out all the imperfections in the paint. For instance, it will remove swirl marks, orange peel, and other imperfections as long as the paint isnt scratched to the metal. The bad thing about polishing is, because it takes out all the swirl marks, you will have to do it everywhere there is paint. And even though you cant "burn" the paint with a buffer (todays paints are thermoset as opposed to the laquer paints that required polishing) , you can still leave buffer marks. Ask 1badgmc about those;) But, once you polish, you dont ever want to drive a car that isnt. It will sure make you cry if your polished paint gets scratched. Just food for thought. I would reccomend going to the local O'rileys/kragen/other parts house and picking up the Mother's Clay Bar Kit. Just dont drop the clay!
